New Ground - Hot Summer Sings & Brand New Release

New Ground
Hi Everyone,

This is our very first Artist Article and so bear with me while I learn the ropes on what to write and share with each of you about our travels as New Ground. I'm just so thankful to the Unthanks/SoGospelNews for giving our group this opportunity to share our happenings with each of you!!

July found us beginning the month off with the great people at the Casey Jones Park in Jackson, Tennessee. As most of you know, this is the restaurant that Dr. Buck Morton has his monthly singings and supper - well, did have them - we have found out that Dr. Buck and Mrs. M. have taken a church in Pontotoc, Mississippi so the night we were in Jackson was his last night - but continue to check out their schedule as Gospel Music will still be alive each first Thursday night!!

By this time we were gearing up for our 10 Year Homecoming Sing. This was the first time we have ever had an outdoor Homecoming and it could not have been any more beautiful than that Friday, July 11th. Our special guest included Southern Image from Tupelo, Mississippi, Free Spirit from Scottsboro and some of our greatest singing friends - The Perrys!!! Everyone did an awesome job, but those Perry's just keep getting betterer and betterer - is that a word???? Their new release - "Calvary Answers For Me" is definitely a chart topper!!! The next time you see the Perry's - ask Libbi about her flashing toe ring!!

From Scottsboro it was on to Tupelo, Mississippi for the Southern Image Homecoming with their special guest, Tony Gore!!! Ain't he a hoot!! Tony is an awesome singer and remains one of the greatest crowd pleasers around!! People just can't get enough of Tony's singing!!! He's also a great friend!!

But we can't forget one of the biggest highlights of the month - the SoGospel Convention - now you are talking about a class act - this was just exactly what the Unthanks promoted - a Class Act Concert. It was also so good to meet lots of people from the list and message board and to see our forever friend - Bob Whitehead!! Hey Unthanks - don't forget us for next year - hint, hint!!

We finished out the month near home - we took off the final Saturday night of the month and attended the James D. Vaughn Singing in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and saw such great groups as the Dove Brothers, Inspirations, Kelleys and Brian Free & Assurance - had to go see our former piano player, Josh Simpson. Josh plays piano for BFA and he is doing an awesome job - we are so proud of our Josh!!! Also, it was good to see Foxy Griffin, Monty & Laura Gilliam, Little Rick from WZPQ and the awesome singer, Josh Franks, the winner of the Crabb Family Homecoming - be watching for this young man on the gospel music scene full time very soon!!! He is a fabulous singer and has the greatest personality!!

Before I go, I gotta let you know about our latest radio release entitled "Hands Scarred By The Nails". This was a song written by Dale's best friend, Nick Holman. We sure hope this powerful and moving song impacts everyone's lives as it has touched ours in so many ways as we sing it night after night at churches and concerts across the nation. Call you local radio stations and request this song!!

Looking for great singings and fellowship in August - hope to see you at one of our events!!

Independence Day Is Here - Jul 2004

The Dunaways
We are celebrating the 4th in South Mississippi with my (Tammy's) family and also attending my nephew's wedding on July 5th. Happy Birthday USA!

Here's the cover for our new project! Designed by Brad Strider at b.creative, who is AWESOME to work with by the way! We should have the first batch of CD's on the table this week!

After days and weeks and months of recording, mixing, mastering, tweeking, and then tweeking some more we have finished our debut project with Family Music Group. There are mp3 samples of all the songs on our website (which by the way has recently had a facelift). Thanks to Mike Indest and his wife for the upgrade (they are also great to work with!)

We are so excited to get started ministering to audiences with this album. One of our first stops will be The Mississippi District U.P.C.I. Campmeeting on July 8th Tuesday night in Raymond MS. And then we're off to The Kentucky Crabbfest in Owensboro KY. Lord willing, we will be ministering in song during the Sunday morning worship service. We appreciate the Crabb Family being so gracious in having us.

We'd like to remind everyone that our friends Hope's Call and The Praters will be shooting videos on Friday and Saturday night of the event. The shoot is open to the public and will take place on the main stage area if I have my story straight. So please come out and support them if you can!

In other news, we have learned that we have made the final ballot for the Diamond Awards (Sunrise Award) along with The Mark Tramell Trio, The Sons Family, Signature Sound Quartet and HisSong. We are shocked and humbled to say the least and we appreciate those who have allowed us this honor. Just to be nominated is far beyond what we could have dreamed. Thanks to everyone who voted and for future support!

Lets see what else Oh our new single! Mr. Les Butler is sending out our new single "Beautiful Day" it is the title cut from our new project. The song was written by Lori and Jeff Woods. Its meaning: No matter that the circumstances all around you look dark and hopeless, All we have to do is start counting our blessings and we can say its a Beautiful Day. We can easily look around us and see others that are in much worse situations than we are. Our attitude should always be. This is the that the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it We pray that the song will bless and encourage many people.

Speaking of radio, now DJ's for a little more than a year we have been a good little group and not worried the living daylights out of you. HA HA but not anymore!
Moihhahahhaa . He he he he heHERE WE COME!!!!! BEWARE!!
. "Simmer down"...Just having a little fun! We wouldn't do that! We're still a good little group!

Until Next Month!

Calvary Answers For Me

The Perrys
HEY GANG!!!!!

I hope this July article finds all of you doing well. We just came off of vacation and are in high gear now. July is a busy month for us and we ask that you please remember us in your prayers as we tour this month.

I want to thank all of you who supported last month's article. It was a lot of fun putting that together and I got a lot of responses to it. I even got a response from old Bill Bailey himself! He wasn't too mad at me!

Please be on the watch for our new album that comes out this month. The release date is July 22. I also hope that you are hearing our new single, "calvary Answers for Me", on the radio. If not, please call and request it! I think you will be blessed by this powerful message of forgiveness. Loren does an awesome job on it and then he and Libbi perform a very powerful duet!!!! I think you will like it!

We have a couple of very special prayer requests this month. We have a good friend, Charles Elliott, who has been diagnosed with cancer. He has been a great friend of the Perrys for many years and we are praying that God will touch him. Also, please remember a great preacher friend of ours, Rev. Dennis Carter. He is a very Godly man and we are praying for a miracle for him as well! rev. Carter has welcomed many groups into his church and has been such a blessing to me personally!

Well, that's it for this month. We love all of you and look forward to seeing you soon!

This is the Day!!!!
