Master’s Voice - Dec 2003

God continues to work within the group. Though we have been told my some that singing like we do would evenutally become ordinary, we continue to be in awe that God would allow a motley group of guys, best friends, to make music about our wonderful and saving Lord Jesus! On top of that, He takes pleasure in it! Glory be to God. We love the holidays. Our schedule slows down some, and we really get to spend good and extended time with our families. It is kind of bitter-sweet. We love being home and serving at our home churches, but we miss being on the road. We hope we see you soon. We are still planning on being in the studio this month, so it shouldn't be long till we have new product.
From the very bottom-most-part of heart, Master's Voice would like to wish everyone a very safe and Happy Holiday season. Can you think of a better way to celebrate Christmas than showing Jesus to a family member?
In His grip,
Master's Voice
New Ground - Happy Holidays to All - Dec 2003

Hi Everyone,
Well, we survived the first round of Holidays with Thanksgiving and are looking forward to taking off for a few weeks in December for our Christmas Vacation. But I know that by the time New Years Eve gets here we will be ready to hit the gospel road for another year of singing His praises.
This past month was very busy for us and we made lots of new friends in Missouri and Texas. We absolutely love to go into new areas with our ministry!!! It is so wonderful to sit back and see where the Lord leads us next.
The first weekend of November found us on the Gulf Coast of Alabama - somebody has to sing for the Lord on the beach in Gulf Shores - might as well be us - LOL. But I gotta tell you this story. We were at our last stop for the weekend and we had already sung and were at our product table. Pastor John Hodges came by the table and told me that he had given Dale our check but he felt led to give us another check. Needless to say, I was elated. The check was for $450.00. Here's where it gets good!! On our way home - something happened to the radiator on the bus and we had to have the bus towed - the tow bill was $225.00. Then when we got all the parts and had the bus repaired the total bill including the tow bill was $445.17. Wow - I've shared this story so many times this past month. I'm so glad that Pastor John followed the Lord's lead - He told us in His word that he would take care of us!!! What a true statement.
The second weekend - we were close to home. It was good to see many of our family and friends at our singings in Ballplay, Guntersville and Rainsville, Alabama. We were even home before 10:00pm on Sunday night - we didn't know what to do with ourselves!!
Our third weekend we headed to Charleston, Missouri. I had gotten really bad sick on the way up but I had told the guys that I wasn't gonna tell anyone that I was sick - I was gonna smile - go in and sing and then go straight back to the bus - nope, it didn't work that way. We had sung about five songs ' and that was all she wrote. I had to leave ' I mean I was so sick that they took me to the Doctor and got shots and medicine and the church had special prayer. I have been singing for about twenty years and this is the first time I just couldn't make it. But here is the kicker. We sang in Cape Girardeau, Missouri about two months ago ' the only other time we had been to Missouri -and there was a lady by the name of Mandy that bought our CD. This lady knew all of our songs. She comes on stage with David and Dale while I'm at the Doctor's office and they said she ripped it!!! They have already been kidding me about Mandy taking my place!!! That's OK - she was definitely a God Send that night. Pastor John Archie and his congregation at the Elm Street Baptist Church were so understanding - they will never know just how much I appreciated them being so nice during my sickness!!! They are really a great church and awesome Christians. From there we headed to Verona, Mississippi to the Woodmen of the World Building with such great singers as the Masters (we love you Donald), Still Blessed and our great friend Brenda Whitlock. We met Brenda and Sid about a year ago and we fell in love with them immediately. They are true blue friends!!! It wasn't too long of a ride from Verona to Tupelo, Mississippi to be with our friends at Open Door Baptist Church and Brewer Baptist Church. We were off on that Sunday morning and "snuk in" on Pastor Cason and his congregation for the Sunday morning service - what an awesome day. Then it was on to Brewer Baptist for a combined worship service on Sunday night with our bestest friends "Southern Image". They sang and then we sang and then had a combined group between the two of us and it was just a great Sunday service. They are even talking about making it an annual event. We sure hope so.
The Texas trip found us in Waco and Eddy with promoter Flo Owens. Ms. Flo is a really special lady. We spent the entire weekend with her and sang at the Kendrick Lane Baptist Church, Trinity Lutheran School with Shiloh Quartet, Surrendered and Kaley Caperton, and at the First Baptist Church of Eddy for their Sunday morning worship and then their combined service on Sunday night. Thanks to Pastor D.F. Barnett and Music Minister Jim Parker for making our day complete with song, fellowship and a great lunch!!
Friday after Thanksgiving found us in Gainesville, Georgia at the Crossmen's Homecoming - these guys have been friends of ours for about twenty years and we were honored to be a part of their special night. Then it was on to the big Frank Arnold Singing in Hanceville, Alabama. I was elated to be asked to judge the talent search on Saturday morning - there is lots of good talent - it was sooo hard to pick a winner - everyone did so good. Then the singing that night included Jeff & Sheri Easter, Karen Peck & New River, Perry's, Aaron Wilburn, Brian Free & Assurance, Signature Sound and New Ground. Awesome singing - Frank definitely knows how to promote a classy event. We finished the month in Bowden, Georgia at Corinth Baptist Church. It was so good to see Alice Smith again and appreciate the opportunity to sing for her at Corinth.
As you can tell, it's been an awesome month with great singings. Hope to see ya'll very soon at a singing in your area. Make sure that you check out our web site at http://www.newgroundministries.com and come and be with us when you can.
Until He Comes,

Master’s Voice - Nov 2003

Just to get you caught up on some other things that are going on in Master's Voice, we are trying our best to be patient and wait on Mikal's sweet wife to have their baby. She is all kinds of pregnant, and that baby just will not shake loose. As we are on the road, every time Mike's pager goes off, we all hold our breath wondering if it is babytime.
It has also been a very bittersweet month. We are both delighted and saddened to inform all of you that Rick Knight has resigned from Master's Voice.
It is impossible to share eight wonderful years of reasonable service with a man and you not be affected when he leaves, but we 100% convinced that this is right in the center of God's perfect will. We assure everyone that this was not a problematic departure for him. We all respect Rick very much for being obedient to God enough to make the hardest decision he has ever had to make.
The bottom line is that Rick is called to do something else. He looks forward to being home more, getting more involved in our home church, and concentrating on his family and their ministry. Please pray for him as he adjusts and for us as we do the same. Once again, we praise God for not putting us on a shelf marked "unusable." Instead, He keeps on molding us, making us, and moving us just where He wants us.
We love you all, and we long to share the gospel with you again soon!
Also, please pray for us as we are planning on a new album to be completed within the next few months. Yeah!

Southern Harmony - Nov 2003

Boy! Has October been a good month!
We would like to thank all over friends in Kingsport, TN (Tri-City Area) and radio station WEYE for having us up for their concert October 11th; and requesting our song "Long As I Got King Jesus" and "Go to God in Prayer".
We were real excited this month to learn our song "Long As I Got King Jesus" will be included on the Springhill "Shout Series 2004" CDs. We never in our wildest dreams thought this song would receive the airplay it has, but thank God that a simple message about Jesus and his annointed touch is all it takes to receive a blessing. Here is what they are saying about this CD:
"The SHOUT! series has proven for three years that it is truly the 'best of the best,' top-selling collection of Southern Gospel hits! Once again, we have taken the industry's national sales charts, multiple national radio charts and input for industry insiders and assembled this must-have compilation of hits - hits already proven to be bestsellers and selected by radio, retail and fans themselves as their favorites."
We also had our share of trials this past month, Carrie had gallbadder surgery and missed three weekends. But thank God she is fine now (better than ever).
Terri had to have surgery this past week and is on the mend. I guess Dana and myself (the old man) has been the two healthy ones this month.
We are looking forward to November. We have scheduled a live video shoot November 15th at the Vincent Revival Center Assembly of God in Vincent, Alabama, our home church. J. & D. Multimedia will be shooting the production along with Mike Bailey from Bethel Community Sound. We invite you to attend. We will start at 7:00 p.m. with the Evangel Temple Choir, Southern Harmony, Oasis and our church praise team, Vincent, Alabama.

God Bless and Keep us in your Prayers
Until Next Month

Southern Sound - Nov 2003

We just finished our annual Homecoming at Fohs Hall in Marion, KY. Our special guests this year were the Childress family from Madisonville, KY. We had a wonderful time of singing and praising the Lord. The youngest member of the Childress family is Miss Courtney, who I would guess to be in her mid teens. Rumor got back to me that she did a pretty good imitation of me, so during our first time on stage I called her up to sing a song with us. She was embarrassed, the crowd loved it, and the guys tried to hire her to sing lead for SSQ. I suppose you know where that left me! All and all, we had a great time.
Next year in October we have a group scheduled to be with us that some of you folks may know called Sunday Edition, or better known to some of us old heads around here as the Unthanks. Deon and family graciously accepted our offer a couple of months back, and we are really looking forward to having Sunday Edition as our special guests next year. Stay tuned, we will keep you posted.
We will be in the Tuscaloosa, Al area on November 8th and 9th. This is a new region for us and we are really are anxious to be there. We will also be in Henderson KY Middle School Fine Arts building on November 15th with the Southlanders and God Send. This should be a good singing as well. We will end the year this year at Trace Creek Baptist in Mayfield, KY. That sounds somewhat final does it not? However, not true, the first of the year brings new dates in new places. I am excited about 2004. I will tell you more later.
Our new recording on ZION, “One Voice” is out and available now! For the dates where Southern Sound will be appearing, please log onto our web site. While you’re there don’t forget to sign our guest book.
