The Talleys - Feb 05

The Talleys are as busy as ever, but we have had a great 2005 so far, and we have more exciting things planned for the rest of the year......
I have been in the studio recently working on my third solo project, slated for release this spring. Producer Kent Hooper is lending his talents to several songs, and of course my dad, Roger, is the glue that holds it all together. Of course, I'll let you know as time draws nearer when it will be released, and you know you can always find it at http://www.talleytrio.com
We recently had the opportunity to sing for ministers of music from all across the country at the J&J Music Conference in Houston, Texas. We made some new friends and will be appearing in concert at several churches represented at the conference. Special thanks to everyone at
J&J for including us!
I just began a new semester of classes, professors, and dark circles under my eyes. At least I'm finally a sophomore; it's taken long enough! I have Spanish II this time, which is great, but my business major forces, uh, I mean requires me to take Accounting. Any CPAs out there, I may need some help sometime.
Don't forget about our Smoky Mountain Homecoming, which happens Friday and Saturday, July 22-23. We'll be hosting pianist extraordinaire Anthony Burger and the exciting new quartet, Mercy's Mark. Saturday brings the talent contests for the solo and group divisions, and the Talleys will share the evening stage with the contest winners and the Booth Brothers, back by popular demand. Tickets are already on sale, and a few disappear from the office every day, so hurry! All seating this year is reserved, so make your vacation plans now. Hotel/ticket packages are available, and you won't miss any of the fun if you call 423-235-2916 or log onto http://www.talleytrio.com
Please keep us in your prayers as we travel, record and live our lives.
We couldn't do it without you.
Until next time,
Lauren Talley
The Talley Trio
Old Paths Trio

This captivating and energetic music ministry is still a new name to the Gospel music industry, but each of their members share a distinguished pedigree as members of several notable groups including the Rowlands.
The group consists of members Tim Rackley, Douglas Roark, and Chad Dominey. These men have really spent some time and have really been led of the Lord in their musical selection. They are very comfortable with a broad range of styles. From traditional Southern Gospel to some of the fresh new sounds of today’s Gospel music. As a result, in only 2 ½ years God has blessed their ministry and they have been in full-time operation for nearly a year.
Popular campmeeting artists, The Old Paths Trio has recently seen an increasing demand in many different types of services including Concert, Revival, and Special Christian Corporate Events.
Producer, Mike Pillow recently shared his thoughts about this exciting ministry, “Contrary to their name, The Old Paths are really a breath of fresh air. Although they perform traditional Southern Gospel with great expertise, they are able to convey some of the best new material in a way that is so incredibly powerful. Not to diminish anyone else in the industry, but this group is definitely one of the most powerful new artists in Gospel music today!”
Solid Gospel’s Les Butler also recently said,” God has really put this group together in an exciting way, The production sound and vocal blends are absolutely wonderful.”
Over the past 18 years Lamp Music has grown to become one of the most successful labels in several different genres of Christian music. At a time in the industry when other companies seemed to be trapped in the past with production and marketing concepts that are 20-30yrs old, Lamp has consistently focused on what it TAKES RIGHT NOW to get the word out in the most powerful way to promote the Gospel Message in song. It is our pleasure to continue this legacy of life-changing artists, and the Old Paths trio fits in perfectly with this plan
Their brand new Gospel Heritage recording, “For The First Time” is available now. Their single by the same name is doing quite well at radio currently. Their newest single, “The Fire Still Burns” will be at radio this February on the Lamp Sampler Vol 27 – which will also available as a download to radio stations via the exclusive Lamp Digital Distribution Service.

Are You Different?

I wonder how many gospel singers do not have a church home... I wonder how many have a church home but do not attend... Most groups don’t sing on Wednesday night – do they take the time to get filled and refreshed after ministering Thursday through Sunday? Please believe that I say this in love – I’m concerned about those in our particular area of ministry who seem to get so easily defeated over small things and some whose ministry does not last because of a lack of discipline. Many can find strength to endure these trials just by simply “anchoring” to a local church. Singing in a church should never be an exchange (or an excuse) for Hebrews 10:25. There are many groups who are active in a local church who are living proof of the stability it brings. When you truly know what it is like to encounter the Lord on a regular basis through corporate worship, I believe you will be hungry to get to church as often as possible! You just can’t substitute the peace and encouragement – the guidance and leadership – of being based out of a church that loves and supports you, as well as your ministry. Our family is blessed to have a church just like that! I hope you do to!

Crabb Family - Jan 05

We never really know what to expect or what might be around the next corner. We do know that we have entrusted our ministry into the hands of God and we will follow where He leads. We consider every open door an opportunity to share the gospel with someone new and our prayer is that we make the most of each one.
We are beginning a new Tour called Crabb Jam, featuring the Crabb Family, Mike Bowling, the McRaes and Crossway. The tour will really be geared toward youth and offer a variety for everyone. We are also working on more Crabb Gathering dates with some fun changes.
Most of our energy for the first half of this year will go to CrabbFest. We have worked really hard at building this event. Our goal is not to tear down any other events or replace or even offer an alternative to any other event. We want to offer a festival where people of all ages and all walks of life can join together to lift up the name of Jesus! Our entire event is centered around worship. From worship services, to showcases, to the evening concerts, everyone there to sing or to listen is there to praise the Lord! This year our talent roster includes many favorites such as the Isaacs, the Hoppers, the Hoskins Family, the McRaes, the Dove Brothers, Gold City, Aaron Wilburn, Michael English and on and on….We have also added several new faces to the program this year such as Lynda Randle, Russ Taff, and Avalon. The legendary Dottie Rambo also graces our audience with her presence each year and is a highlight of the entire event. We expect this year’s CrabbFest to be bigger and better than ever before. Each year we have many people who accept Christ and renew commitments to Him. We are already praying that he sends more souls this year than ever! Everyone, including us, always leaves CrabbFest feeling refreshed and revived. It is like a Camp Meeting!
VIP passes are still available. These passes include VIP seating at all Nightly Concerts, Afternoon Showcases, Morning Worship Services, admission to the Talent Contest, a Meet and Greet, and a free CD or Cassette.

The Imperials - Jan 05

Something I have been thinking about lately has been how truly blessed we as The Imperials are. We get to do something that many people would give anything for. It was something my wife said that really made me think. I was complaining about "How hard I have it traveling and singing and ministering to people all across the USA." She just looked at me in the way only a wife can and said, "You're kidding me right"? I said, "What"? She said, "You have no idea how blessed you are to be able to do what you want and get paid for it". It was like a slap in the face, but a good one. I really started to talk to God and thanked him for blessing me with this opportunity. It is a blessing! I get to travel all over the world, meet incredible people, sing for them and I get paid for this. I get to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in song and help hundreds of people come to know Him. What an awesome gift we who are in this industry have been given. And the number one reason we get to do this is because of the fans of this music. You, the fans are the reason we are blessed. Fans are the backbone of any entertainment industry be it music, theater, movies or sports. I, as someone who has been in this group for over 13 years now, want to say thank you for your support and appreciation of our music and ministry for the last 40 years. Without you we would be singing in the shower! Thank you!
Don't get me wrong; I truly believe that the world needs music and entertainment. But sometimes I think we lose sight of why we are out here doing what we do. The number one reason should be God - hands down, that is the most important reason we should do anything. The second reason has to be you, the fans. I know when I am on stage singing and look out over the crowd and see someone's face that we are really connecting with, it makes me feel I am here on this earth for a purpose.
I have met many artists who seem to feel like they are owed a living and everyone should just be grateful that they are here. I just don't see it that way. I think that there are a lot of very talented people on this earth who are supposed to be singing or (whatever field they are in) to do what they are supposed to be doing. God has called a lot of us to that end. I don't feel that just because God calls us, we are God's gift to the world. If we look at God's word, we are all to be working to further His kingdom and bring about His ultimate purpose, which is His Son's return. Just because we sing about it doesn't make that any more important than the person who goes to their job and witnesses to their co-workers. I guess what I am saying is: 1. Thank you for your support of the artists and the industry all of us love so much, and 2. We are in this long haul together and I want you to know from our standpoint in the music industry, you are just as important in getting God's word out there as any of us. You can reach people we can't and vice versa. God's word says to "Go ye…" That is for all of us, not just the singers or preachers. You are just as responsible to "go" as we are. As we move into this New Year, let me encourage you to look for the opportunities God will give you to share your faith.
God Bless you in all of your endeavors and we, The Imperials, will be praying for you as we ask you to pray for us that 2005 will be the best year this group has ever known.
God Bless,
Jason Morales

The Quicks - Jan 05

Are you one of those people who makes New Year's resolutions? I'm not! I have too much to fix to wait once a year! I'm not what I want to be, but THANK GOD I'm not what I used to be!
I like new things. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new." (II Corinthians 5:17) I like knowing that God can make something new of me. I like knowing that God's mercies are new every morning. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
I remember a time when I felt like I was stuck with the way I was - that change seemed overwhelming. I had been a Christian for years, but I had very little hope. I needed something new. I asked God to remove anything from my life that was coming between Him and me. If I had realized the full extent of that prayer and the events that would take place in the coming years, I probably wouldn't have said it. But there it was... and I would soon be yanked out of my comfort zone! The first big challenge God confronted me with was to stop smoking back in 1998. I know as a gospel singer this is not something I should be advertising, but I did - I smoked for over 17 years. And I just could not continue with this habit... this area of "non-surrender"... that was hidden in my private life. God did not deliver me miraculously - it was one of the most difficult things I have ever done, but God brought me through that time. I learned that if I don't get an immediate answer, God would still bring me through! I found hope again. I know that He will also work right there on the spot. Now that I have hope God will move in my life, He does! "I want to know that God is with me every morning as I wake - that He'll be there to guide me down each path that I must take. I know Jesus is the answer as from His word I read - sweeter gets the journey when I'm following His lead." We made new friends, ministered in new areas, and received new blessings from God that we had not allowed Him to give us before. I can't wait to see what will be new in 2005!

The Talleys - Jan 05

On November 29, we sang for the first annual Harmony Honors ceremony presented by the Southern Gospel Music Guild. We performed our nominated song, "Jesus Saves." My dad's producing and arranging skills landed him his very first award for Creative Support, with which the Guild's voters honor work done behind the scenes in Gospel Music. (It's about time, say I.) Thanks to the voters for thinking of us.
We've enjoyed singing from our Christmas project, so cleverly titled "It's Christmas." It's always a little hard to remember songs that you sing only a few times a year, but I think we did just fine. It's not too late for you to pick up a copy at http://www.talleytrio.com
I celebrated my 22nd birthday on December 11, and since we were working on that day, my parents planned a special celebration a few days before. Our friends Danny Murray and the Voices of Lee (who sang on my "Surrender" album) treated us to a Christmas dinner concert at the Whitestone Inn in Kingston, Tennessee. Nobody sings acappella like the Voices, and they even threw in a special rendition of "Happy Birthday" for me. Thanks to Danny and the Voices, and the owners and staff of the
Whitestone for giving me a great birthday!
In the midst of all the holiday frenzy, we're still looking ahead to warmer weather and the Talley Trio Smoky Mountain Homecoming! Tickets are going very quickly, and this year the entire Smoky Mountain Convention Center is being sold as reserved seating, so you need to get your tickets early! Don't forget, this year we're hosting the Mercy's Mark Quartet, Anthony Burger, and the Booth Brothers, back by popular demand. With talent like that, how could you not want to be there?! Ticket/hotel packages are available, but they are in short supply, so hurry! Call 423-235-2916, or log onto http://www.talleytrio.com for ticket information, mark your calendars for July 22-23, 2005, and point the car toward Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
We'll celebrate New Year's Eve in Pendleton, South Carolina with the Safe Harbor Quartet, who just happens to be the Horizon Group of the Year. After New Year's, we'll be heading to Texas for several dates.
It'll be nice to get some Texas barbecue after all that turkey.....
In between the shopping, the food, and the parties, don't forget about the incredible fact that God thought enough of us that He came to earth to be one of us, and eventually die for us. May you and your loved ones have a blessed Christmas.
Until 2005,
Lauren Talley
