HisSong to Perform at Michigan State Campmeeting

image
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Diamond Award winning trio HisSong will perform at the "Fresh Anointing" Michigan State Campmeeting this coming Monday, October 1st through Wednesday, October 3rd in Monroe, Michigan at the Stewart Road Church of God.

HisSong owner/manager Dennis Humphries says, “We are so excited to be a part of this campmeeting. Pastor Luke is a dynamic pastor with a heart to win lost souls. He served as a church pastor in Mobile, Alabama before moving to Ohio, where they began pastoring a 1,500 member church. Within two years, the church grew to more than 4,500 people. The same thing has happened in Michigan. When we were at Stewart Road a year ago, it was amazing. At the end of the service, the altars in this large sanctuary were totally filled as people were saved and lives were changed. We feel so honored to be a part of what God is doing in this church – but not just Monroe, Michigan – but at churches all over this country. If you have the opportunity to be with us for one or more days of the campmeeting, I know you will be blessed. We have received reports from people in several states that are traveling to attend the campmeeting this week.”

HisSong did a concert in the area this time last year, and they were asked by Pastor Dr. Sam Luke to be the special music guest for the three-day state campmeeting.

Following the campmeeting in Michigan, HisSong will embark on a three-week tour to Texas & Louisiana.

“We are very excited,” states Dennis, “as our new project will be released while we are in Texas. The CDs will be shipped to us.”

New Release from Mountain Home Music: Balsam Range, Marching Home

image
Mountain Home Music Company, a division of Crossroads Entertainment and Marketing is proud to announce the release of what promises to be one of the most exciting new band line ups in Bluegrass today, Western North Carolina’s Balsam Range. The name of the group is new but the players are no strangers to Bluegrass fans. Grammy winning Marc Pruett from Ricky Skaggs’s Bluegrass Rules line up heads up the group on banjo. He is joined by Southern Gospel and solo artist Tim Surrett on Bass, Darren Nicholson formerly of Alicia Nugent Band on Mandolin, former Harvest guitar player Caleb Smith and new comer powerhouse lead vocalist Buddy Melton on fiddle. For fans of the genre that may need a reminder of why they love this music, this is the real deal.

The new project titled Marching Home was produced by Jerry Salley and includes a mix of not-so-traditional versions of Bill Monroe classics as well as contemporary and hard driving originals. Salley comments, “Individually they are incredible talents and have accomplished so much. Collectively, Balsam Range is one of the finest new bands on the Bluegrass music scene – mixing tradition with a fresh approach - they complement each other perfectly!!”

Guest appearances on the project include Doyle Lawson, Joe Diffie, Jimmy Van Cleave, and Jerry Salley. Look for this CD in stores in October and listen for it from your local bluegrass DJs. Also listen for “The Train’s Ready” the first single from the album to be released on Prime Cuts of Bluegrass in November.

All tracks will be available for digital download at major download outlets.

Sonya and Becky Isaacs Join Voices With Superstar Dolly Parton on New Single

Nashville, TN (9-25-07) – Sisters Sonya and Becky Isaacs of the acclaimed gospel/bluegrass group, The Isaacs, are spending lots of time in the studio these days providing backing vocals to projects by country music superstars. The latest to enlist the stellar voices of the sisters is Country Music Hall of Famer Dolly Parton, who asked her fellow East Tennesseans to lend their harmonies to the first single from her new album, Backwoods Barbie. The single, which is currently available for download at iTunes, “Better Get Back to Livin’,” goes for radio airplay October 1st. Dolly will debut the tune live on Wednesday’s “Dancing With The Stars.”

It seems the much-awarded songstress is a big fan of the entire family. "I love the Isaacs,” she contends. “Sonya and Becky always do a great job on anything they sing on. But I think their vocals on ‘Better Get To Livin'’ are outstanding. I just love 'em."

For Sonya and Becky, the feeling is mutual. “We have had the privilege of singing on Dolly's albums in the past and were so thrilled to get to join her again. Her passion for song and life comes through so purely on this incredible song. We love Miss Dolly, not only as a musical hero but also as a genuine friend.”

Hoppers and Canaan Records Complete Successful Week

image
Nashville, Tenn.---The Hoppers and Canaan Records, who is home to the legendary family group, shared a successful week during the National Quartet Convention (NQC) in Louisville, KY. Monday started with the debut ride of the "Hopper Express," which consisted of free golf cart rides to and from Freedom Hall. Each rider was given a commemorative gold coin in celebration of the Hoppers' latest radio single, "I'm Just Waiting For My Ride." The inaugural ride was captured on video and can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2z8zk1aW26E.

As part of his NQC Observations, Singing News' own Danny Jones stated on September 12th, "The distance between the exhibit hall and performance venue seems to be getting longer every time I make the journey...I'm not quite sure who is responsible for this (either the Hoppers or Canaan Records), but they are making fans and friends for life: they have a small fleet of golf carts transporting patrons to and from Freedom Hall and the exhibit hall. Sure, it's shameless promotion for their latest recording and single ("Waiting For My Ride"), but it's a stroke of genius and both, especially the Hoppers, will reap rewards because of it."

On Thursday, Kim Hopper was named Favorite Female and Favorite Soprano during the Singing News Fan Awards at a ceremony held in Freedom Hall at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center. Kim was awarded the prestigious honors by fans and readers of the Singing News magazine.

The legendary Hoppers continued their winning streak on Friday during NQC. Claude, Connie, Dean, Kim and Michael took home Group of the Year, Album of the Year (The Ride), Male Vocalist of the Year (Dean Hopper), Female Vocalist of the Year (Kim Hopper) and the J.D. Sumner Living Legend Award (Claude Hopper) during SGN Scoops' Diamond Awards. Earlier that day, the group performed during the daily chapel service to a packed audience with overwhelming response. Later in the evening on main stage, they sang "I'm Just Waiting For My Ride" complete with video showcasing the writer Ronnie Hinson. The crowd awarded the Hoppers with a standing ovation.

Saturday proved to be a memorable day for each of the Hoppers, but especially Claude. In celebration of the family's 50 years of ministry, the original Hopper Brothers and Connie made an appearance during an afternoon showcase. The group performed songs from past to present. Canaan Records presented the family with a statue representing Jesus washing His disciple's feet. The plaque included read...

"For fifty years you have not only lifted the message of Christ through song, but lived the example of servanthood to those you have touched along the way. Even as we celebrate the journey, we acknowledge that the milestones of success will not merely be measured in years, but in lives changed through your faithfulness to God's call. 'Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.' John 13:14"

NQC 2007 was the first National Quartet Convention for Canaan Records since their rebirth earlier this year. Attendees were invited to pick up Canaan's release, Canaan Revisited and t-shirts that read, "Canaan's Back." Clarke Beasley, Executive Vice President of NQC stated, "Canaan certainly made a great impression at NQC this year. Their free golf cart shuttle was a big winner with the attendees. I am so glad to see the great institution of Canaan Records return once again to the forefront of our industry. Canaan obviously has a great team assembled, and I am looking forward to everything Canaan Records will accomplish in the future."

The week concluded on the heels of the Hoppers signing with Canaan Records and releasing their debut project, The Ride, earlier this month.

The Hoppers, whose name has been synonymous with traditional Gospel Music for over three decades, can certainly be labeled as the faithful and the devoted. This family has enjoyed many rewards of the faithful servant. These rewards are the result of constant faithfulness and continual rededication.
While The Hoppers have enjoyed tremendous success through three decades, the `90s ushered in newfound accomplishments. Although this talented musical family has enjoyed many popular hit releases, their first Number One release came in 1990 with the song entitled "Here I Am." It stayed at the top of the charts for 4 months and was awarded song of the year for 1990.

In addition to enormous radio success, The Hoppers have enjoyed other national recognition. In 1981, The Hoppers represented Southern Gospel Music at the Religious Inaugural Celebration for President Ronald Reagan. Shortly thereafter they appeared at the National Rally to restore prayer in the public school system. On June 27, 1998 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta,GA, they performed a song for Bill Gaither's video series entitled "Shouting Time" that would forever change their life and their Ministry. They have toured with the Gaither Homecoming show that played to over 900,000 people per year in most major sports arenas around the country. They have also enjoyed much success as a result of many group and individual awards and accolades.

Belinda Stutzman Gives Stamps-Baxter Scholarship

image
Attendance at Stamps-Baxter School of Music was one student larger this year due to the generosity of a 16 year old. Belinda Stutzman of The Stutzman Family worked her first summer job to be able to provide a full scholarship so someone else could attend the school. Belinda spent the summer working for a construction company driving fence posts, picking rock and running a transit to set road grades. It was hard work, but when asked why she did it she responded, "I love going to Stamps every year and I've learned so much over the last 4 years that I've attended. I was able to go each year because of the scholarship program, and I just wanted to give something back."

Ben Speer told the family, "I am so blown away that someone that young would do this." Mr. Speer shared the reason he started the scholarship program. He told the story of how Glen Payne's grandfather wrote a letter to V.O. Stamps and said he wanted to send his grandson to singing school but they just didn't have the money. V.O. said, "Just send him on." Mr. Speer and so many generous people have kept that spirit alive through scholarships.

"We'll never know the full impact that Stamps-Baxter School of Music has had on gospel music by providing quality music training," says Belinda's mom, Heather, and group member of The Stutzman Family. "I certainly know their scholarships have been invaluable to our family. We're so proud of Belinda for wanting to do this."

Belinda's scholarship went to Chad Riley a truck driver from Pennsylvania. He and his wife had planned on attending and for financial reasons they changed their plans. Riley's wife put in for a scholarship for him without telling him, and he found out just days before the school that he would be able to attend after all.

After meeting Chad, Belinda said her scholarship was put to great use and she looks forward to being able to do the same next year. If you or your church would like to see quality Southern Gospel music continue you can get information on providing your own scholarship at http://www.stampsbaxterschool.com or by reaching The Stutzman Family at http://www.thestutzmanfamily.com

SMA Agency Restructures to Non-Profit, Adds Fresh Focus

The Southern Ministry Agency announces expansion into music, publishing and national conferences, with portions of proceeds aiding those in need

Oliver Springs, TN – SMA, the Southern Ministry Agency that represents speakers, authors and musicians in the faith-based community, announced the agency is now a non-profit ministry, with plans to launch new initiatives in publishing, music and national conferences, with portions of proceeds aiding those in need in the United States and abroad.

“Becoming a non-profit was the next step in accomplishing the goals of SMA. We are already an established ministry, but in order to become more effective with outreach, we needed to expand to allow others to participate and invest in our vision,” said Sherry Konopka, who founded SMA in 1990. “We’ve changed the focus of our ministry to include both the internal and the external. We felt the pull to bring hope and healing to those in need, both in the United States and abroad,” Konopka said, who is also a former singer in the popular southern gospel music group Manna.

SMA will expand its reach through key partnerships. “We’re partnering with other faith-based programs and ministries with the same goals. By restructuring to a non-profit, it frees us to give back to others beyond our local community and gather the resources to effectively help others,” said Leigh-Anna Kaye, a musician and author who will be leading SMA’s music, publishing and conference initiatives.

Kaye is partnering with award-winning music producer Andrew Weitz to develop the new initiatives. “We sensed a need within the faith-based community for the distribution of new publishing and music resources that focus on hope and healing,” Kaye said.

Kaye is also the founder of an organization designed to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the complete person. Kaye will use her experience to develop SMA’s conferences. “SMA’s national conferences will address spiritual needs, inner and outer beauty, mentoring, relationships and the context of ‘community living’ within Christianity,” Kaye added.

Both Kaye and Konopka’s personal experiences helped fuel SMA’s new drive—Konopka’s personal story includes her own successful battle against cancer. “SMA is moving into an exciting period of outreach, and we’re thrilled to see how we can impact the world with the message of hope and healing,” Konopka said.

Rex Humbard Passes Away

ATLANTIS, Florida (AP) - The Rev. Rex Humbard, a former itinerant preacher whose televangelism ministry once reached more parts of the globe than any other religious program, has died, a family spokeswoman said. He was 88.

Humbard died Friday of natural causes at a South Florida hospital near his Lantana home, family spokeswoman Kathy Scott said.

"He was the ultimate role model in showing love and caring about other people over and above himself," grandson Rex Humbard III said.

The son of evangelists, Humbard evolved his ministry from revivals across the country to a permanent home in Akron, Ohio, and television. He realized the potential of the new medium in the early 1950s and became known to millions by the 1970s. But financial overreaching eventually eroded his organization.

As with his contemporaries Billy Graham and Oral Roberts, Humbard's ministry began to flourish in the post-World War II era.

"The vast majority of people do not go to church and the only way we can reach them is through TV," he said in his autobiographical book, "Miracles in My Life."

"We must go into their homes - into their hearts - to bring them the gospel of Jesus Christ."

His Sunday services were televised by 1953. He began with a renovated theater and eventually built the $4 million domed, 5,000-seat nondenominational Cathedral of Tomorrow, which included velvet drapes, a hydraulic stage and a cross covered with thousands of red, white and blue light bulbs.

His ministry eventually expanded to include a Mackinaw, Michigan, campus used for religious education and a 23-story Akron office tower.

The broadcast, also called "Cathedral of Tomorrow," developed into a mixture of preaching and music, with Humbard's wife, Maude Aimee, an accomplished gospel singer, and the Cathedral Quartet as regular performers. The Humbards' children also performed.

One of Humbard's admirers was Elvis Presley, who often sang gospel music himself. Humbard spoke at his funeral in 1977.

By 1970, Humbard's syndicated program appeared on more TV stations in America than any other program and eventually reached more than 600 stations, according to the 1999 reference work "Religious Leaders of America."

By 1979, the show was broadcast in the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Far East, Australia and Latin America, giving it a worldwide reach greater than any of his competitors, the reference said.

However, mounting financial problems forced Humbard to leave one dream unfulfilled. Construction was never completed on a 750-foot (230-meter) broadcast tower in Ohio.

His ministry suffered from internal disputes and extensive borrowing. In the 1970s, federal and state regulators complained that millions of dollars in notes that he had issued to followers over the years violated securities laws.

Humbard eventually left in 1982 and the congregation dwindled, sometimes with as few as 75 people showing up.

But his career was never touched by the sort of scandals that engulfed the Rev. James Bakker and the Rev. Jimmy Swaggart in the 1980s. For a time, Humbard was one of the ministers who served on the board of Bakker's PTL organization as it tried to regroup after Bakker resigned in early 1987 amid a sex scandal.

Humbard became pastor emeritus of the church in 1983 and moved his family ministry to Boca Raton. He gave up his weekend on-air preaching in the 1990s.

He sold the Cathedral of Tomorrow to fellow televangelist the Rev. Ernest Angley in 1994.

Humbard is survived by his wife and their four children, Rex Jr., Don, Charles and Elizabeth.

Funeral services will be held in Akron, where he will be buried near his parents and sister.

Appalachian Fiddler Makes Instrument Sing At The National Quartet Convention

The sound of a lone Appalachian fiddle rang out from the main stage of the National Quartet Convention last week as the Appalachian Ambassador of the Fiddle Randall Franks kicked off the Instrumentalist Jam Session.

Franks’ rip-roaring rendition of his signature fiddle tune “Back Up and Push the Devil Away” got the hour and half concert at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky. off to a hand-clapping start as he doubled shuffled to the audience’s delight and the Dixie Echoe’s Randy Shelnut, Sr. set the ensemble’s rhythm behind him.

Comedian Tim Lovelace hosted the event with portions taped for inclusion on inspiration.net and INSP - The Inspiration Network featuring some of the top musicians in Southern gospel music.
“It was such a wonderful experience to work with Tim and all those who performed for this great event,” Franks said. “Tim has such a wonderful spirit about him and he sure knows how to entertain an audience.”

The duo even created a bit of unrehearsed comedic relief for the audience centered around Franks' role as "Officer Randy Goode" from TV's "In the Heat of the Night."

Franks also appeared on the program as a special guest with Georgia’s talented bluegrass gospel act The Watkins Family, Todd, Shanon and Lorie, who thrilled the audience with their talents on “Power in the Blood” and “Uncloudy Day.” Guitarist Jonathan Maness also added his flying fingers to their musical mix.

"The Watkins Family really wowed the audiences they performed for in Louisville," he said. "They are delivering some finest sounds that are now being heard in bluegrass gospel music today and it was a privilege to share the stage with them."

Among the other artists participating were Tim Lovelace’s 4-year-old daughter Gabrielle Rose, Randy Shelnut, Jr. and Stewart Varnado of the Dixie Echoes, Mike Riddle and Jeff Tolbert of the Primitive Quartet, as well as Jeff Easter, vocalist Christie Lynn, Randy Miller, Les Butler, Derwin Hinson, Zane King, and Kingdom Heirs band members.

The highlight of the event was a finale appearance featuring the legendary banjo stylist Earl Scruggs along with fiddler Lizzy Long. Scruggs and Long’s performance included “Sally Gooden,” “I’ll Fly Away” and an impromptu rendition of “The Beverly Hillbillies.”

“It was a thrill of a life time to perform on stage with Earl Scruggs,” Franks said. “Had it not been for his and Lester Flatt’s acting appearances on ‘The Beverly Hillbillies’ and the Dillards’ on ‘The Andy Griffith Show’ as ‘The Darlings,’ I would have never dreamed as a Southern musician to reach for a career in television and film myself.”

Dan Keeton Leaves Dixie Melody Boys

image
Dan Keeton has decided to leave the Dixie Melody Boys after three plus years as tenor. He is returning to his home of Ashland, Kentucky.

"I have been blessed beyond measure. As a young singer I always dreamed of singing with a group the caliber of The Dixie Melody Boys. Dreams do come true. It has been an honor to stand beside a man with the character of Ed O'Neal. I have gone places most only dream of. I have also had the privilege of singing with some of the greatest young singers Southern Gospel has to offer."

"As a young boy I was told I would never become anything. I was told, that going thru child abuse, a foster home, and divorce of my parents would eventually send me to prison, I would become an alcoholic or a drug addict. But God had other plans. I was saved across the street from my grandmothers house in a tent meeting, I found my heroes in her box of Gospel music cassettes and I would later become the Tenor Singer for one of the most widely respected Gospel quartets of our time. God surely has his hand on my life," added Keeton.

Dan is forming Star Hill Productions (a multimedia studio and publishing company) in Rush, KY and is continuing his first love, sharing with everyone, his story: how God tranformed a terrorized little boy through Southern Gospel Music, into a highly successful American Tenor.

Southern Gospel Reaches Beyond Its Fan Base

Hendersonville, TN, September 19, 2007:  On August 31, 2007 Three Hills Music Group released its first ever video on Youtube.com, “Going By The Book” by Bill Monaghan. Although, video production has been one key philosophy within Three Hills Music Group since they opened their doors in 1999, they have always targeted the broader audience and have witnessed remarkable achievements through the power of video.

Video producer and co-founder of Three Hills Music Group, Dale Duhl said, “We are living in a time when people hear with their eyes, if our genre of music is to grow, we must adapt to the changes.  Detailing a strategy of reaching fans or potential new fans with video should be at the top of every artists list. It’s like taking the message of God outside of the local 100 member congregation”.

The milestone in video was achieved in less than 15 days from its release to the world through Youtube.com.  In that short time frame, well over 10,000 plays or views were met.  Even at the time of this press release those numbers continue to rise. Duhl also stated, “Most likely the song will never hold a Southern Gospel chart position, but with this type of visibility, it is achieving it’s goal…reaching the masses”.

From the very onset of Bill Monaghan’s latest Three Hills recording “Loving God”, plans were well underway for the first single and its marketing. To see this historical achievement, visit
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReevKbb2878 or youtube.com and search for “It’s Going By the Book”. Be listening for the single being played on Southern Gospel radio and small market Country stations nationwide.

Kenny Bishop Performs At Justice’s Memorial Service

FRANKFORT, KY - Southern Gospel recording artist Kenny Bishop was one of the featured performers at a memorial for former Kentucky Supreme Court Justice William E. McAnulty, Jr. The service took place in the rotunda of the Kentucky State Capitol in Frankfort on September 11th.

"Justice McAnulty was a remarkable thinker and a very prudent jurist," Bishop said. "I'll never forget his words during his investiture when he told us, 'the debate in this chamber will be great, but the results will be pure.' Justice McAnulty was simply honorable and fair in every way. I was very, very honored to be a part of the service that honored his life and contribution."

Justice McAnulty was the first African-American to serve on Kentucky's highest court. He was appointed to the bench in 2006 by Governor Ernie Fletcher. He then won a full 8 year term during this past November's general election. In June of 2007 McAnulty was diagnosed with lung cancer that had spread to his brain. He blamed the illness on years of smoking, and didn't shirk responsibility saying, "I'm paying the piper. I ain't a victim and I ain't going to whine." He died on August 23rd at his home in Louisville. He was 59.

Bishop closed the memorial with the sounding of the chime and an a cappella performance of "The Lord's Prayer." "I've had the honor of singing this great song at every kind of function and official event," Bishop said. "But sharing the words of peace and reliance on the God who sustains us and comforts us in such times, makes the message even more remarkable."

Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher and State Supreme Court Chief Justice Joseph E. Lambert spoke at the service. Other performers included the Kentucky State University choir and Freda Holt of the Louisville Metro Police Department. The service was attended by Justice McAnulty's family, several state cabinet officials, former and current state supreme court justices and other dignitaries.

The anticipated instrumental project from Ernie Couch & Revival, Elevator Music, featuring saxophonist Boots Randolph has been released. In production for the past year, this new CD features a broad spectrum of music all played by members of the group. Included on this project are EC&R classics, along with some traditional melodies, and standards like "How Great Thou Art" and "How Firm The Foundation." Mixed in the song list are some up-tempo songs like "Swing Low," and a tribute to one of Ernie's influences, Floyd Crammer, on "Last Date."

Boots Randolph is featured on the songs, "Crying In The Chapel," "Dreamin'," and "I'm Forgiven." These songs represent some of the last studio recordings he ever did. Boots passed away this past July, but his talents will not soon be forgotten.

2007 National Quartet Convention Overwhelming Success

Louisville, KY - The 50th Annual Celebration of the National Quartet Convention concluded on Saturday evening, September 15, commemorating Gospel Music’s largest annual event. Certainly no one who attended the prestigious event at Louisville’s Kentucky Fair & Expo Center during the week of September 10 could say there was a shortage of things to do. Gospel music lovers from across the nation, as well as several foreign countries began to arrive early on Monday morning (September 10) for the 50th Annual National Quartet Convention. In fact, many attended Sunday night’s bonus concert to get a jump-start on the week’s festivities, while other fans lined up as early at 4:00am on Monday to upgrade their 2007 tickets and register for the 2008 event.

During NQC week, the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center was transformed into a Gospel music lover’s paradise. Over 40,000 people attend the event annually, representing 40 states and a half dozen countries, including Norway, Ireland and Canada, making the NQC Christian music’s largest marketplace and largest annual event. According to the Greater Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau, the NQC generates more than an 11 million dollar economic impact for its host city of Louisville.

"The 50th Anniversary NQC will go down as one of the most special ever,” stated NQC Executive Vice President, Clarke Beasley. “The attendance on several nights was well ahead of last year and our new webcast service was a tremendous success; however, the most common phrase quoted to me throughout the entire week was the tremendous spirit of fellowship and love that was felt by all participants and attendees. It was palpable and evident to everyone there and is probably the biggest ‘story’ of the week."

As the 2007 event concludes, thoughts immediately turn toward the 2008 event, which will take place September 8-13.

A petition has been added to the website: http://www.miracletheater.com, and members of the cast and management have embarked on a media campaign to defend Christianity.

“The History of The Singing News Magazine” Released

The brand new book, "The History Of The Singing News Magazine," has been nationally released and is now available. The softcover volume is a collaborative effort between Woodland Gospel Publishing and Xulon Press (a Salem Communications Company), and is authored by Mike Collins, of Logan, WV, who was also the writer of the bestselling Gospel music title, "Hold On: The Authorized Biography Of The Greenes," and co-writer of "Driving Ms. Dottie: On the Road With Gospel Music Legend Dottie Rambo."

"This account is an amazing and inspiring story of how good fellows like J.G. Whitfield and Jerry Kirksey followed the Lord's leading and formed a unique publication that eventually evolved into the true voice of Southern Gospel music," said Woodland Gospel publisher Keith Davis. "The author, Mike Collins, also takes the reader on a touching literary journey that faithfully documents the various challenges and victories the magazine and its people have experienced over the years.

"The story of The Printed Voice Of Southern Gospel Music closely parallels the continued growth and success of Southern Gospel music itself. It's as if the two are inseparable -- as it should be," he added.

Jim Cumbee, publisher of The Singing News, also stated that the magazine will soon advertise the book in their publication, as well. "Every reader and member of their subscriber family should read this story," said author Mike Collins. "It is interesting to see the behind-the-scenes passion and commitment related to this national magazine."
