Ron Blackwood Forms “Super Quartet”
Hitting the Road after 19 years of Theater PerformancesAfter spending several years in Branson, and eleven years in Pigeon Forge performing in multi-million dollar theaters, Ron Blackwood has decided to pursue his passion, and tour with an all-male traditional Gospel quartet. According to Ron, The Blackwood Quartet of 2009 will be known as “The Super Group.”
“I have literally taken months to hand-select the “best of the best” singers out there," explains Ron.
The men behind the voices are John Rulapaugh, from LaPlata, Maryland, formerly of the Dove Brothers and Palmetto State Quartet as tenor. Josh Garner, of Fairfiled, Illinois formerly of The Florida Boys sings the lead. Tracy Trent, of Asheville, North Carolina, sings baritone and assists with road management. Newcomer, Trent Adams, from Lineville, Alabama is singing bass. Pianist, Joe Cox, of Cookeville, Tennessee provides accompaniment. Ron Blackwood will keep concerts moving with his MC work and testimony as well as his baritone voice.
“I am more than ready to make this move. Singing in theaters has taken me away from my true love, Quartet Singing. I have enjoyed doing variety shows, but it is time for a change. I am at an age where I realize that I have to be true to my father’s legacy,“ stated Blackwood.
The “Hope for America Tour” featuring Ron Blackwood and the Blackwood Quartet will make its way across the country starting January 2, 2009. Group information and appearances can be found online at http://www.TheBlackwoodQuartet.com . Exclusive booking through Eagle Entertainment at 865-397-0049

Capstone Qt Announce Personnel Changes

Lead singer and group manager Bob Sellers stated, "That scary thing called 'change' is eventual and inevitable in all things, including a group such as this. We appreciate the service and dedication that Jimmy gave for nearly eight years, and we wish only the best for him and his family in whatever role God may have in store for him next. In light of his departure, we consider ourselves extremely blessed to have found such a strong combination of person and singer as we did in Danny Scott to immediately fill the vacancy. I've never traveled with anyone more enthusiastic about our ministry, nor have I ever shared the stage with anyone who sung with greater passion and power. There are few people who can deliver a song quite like Danny, and with the experience he brings to the group, he's just as comfortable at rehearsal or in the studio as he is on the stage."
Make your plans to see and hear the new lineup soon. Also, be watching for Danny's first appearance on a studio recording from Capstone in the form of a Double-CD set containing 25 favorite inspirational hymns.

Rod Burton Exits ECC And Reaches Long Term Recording Agreement With 145 Music Group

Prior to branching out as a solo artist, Rod spent many years with a variety of groups. His earliest experience was with the late songwriter, Charles Feltner. Rod played bass and sang with "Charlie" as a teenager and later traveled with several other groups before making the move to a solo ministry in the 2006. Southern Gospel legend and Hall of Fame Member Ed O'Neal had this to say, "Rod is one of the best tenor singers I have ever heard."
Rod's 2007 CD, By His Grace, featured the national release, "It's Wonderful To Know," which landed in the top 15 on the Gospel Music Times Hot 40 chart, the industry's only 100% fan voted chart. By His Grace was followed by Walking In The Light, a CD that produced the charting single, "That's How A Miracle Feels."
145 Music Group A&R Director Paul Martin made the following statement concerning the signing of Burton: “With all the options available to Rod, we feel fortunate he has chosen to trust the 145 Music Group and Revival Wind with his musical future. It’s rare to find someone with the amount of talent and dedication to the ministry that Rod Burton has. All of us here at the 145 Music Group consider it an honor Rod chose to be a part of our Revival Wind label.”
Rod added “I’m thrilled to have the chance to work with the folks at 145 and Revival Wind. While there were many things that impressed me, their dedication and commitment to ministry was at the top of the list. I look forward to a long and productive relationship with them. I also want to thank the folks with The Eddie Crook Company for the last couple of years and for friendships that will last a lifetime”.
In addition to his full time ministry, Rod is also instrumental in putting together the first annual Branson Gospel Music Convention ( http://www.BransonGMC.com ) and will be performing there in July. Dora Pop Partners With Sweet Sleep
Pop is Sweet Sleep's First Artist PartnerDora Pop has partnered with Sweet Sleep, a Nashville-based non profit organization that exists to share God's love by providing beds for the world's orphaned and abandoned children. Sweet Sleep has launched the Artist Sponsorship Program with Dora Pop as their first artist.
Sweet Sleep began in 2003, when President and Founder, Jen Gash, went on a mission trip to an orphanage in the third world country of Moldova. There are currently 210 million orphaned and abandoned children in the world. Each day, 5,760 children become orphans. Moldova is the neighboring country of Romania and its national language is Romanian.
Being from Romania, Dora exudes a passion and desire for the heritage. "The first time I went on a mission trip to Romania was in the year 2000 and we worked in orphanages and small villages rebuilding the community and ministering to the children and families," Dora recalls. "When I first heard of Sweet Sleep, I felt God calling me to get involved ministering to people of my heritage."
These children often sleep on old, broken and soiled beds or have no beds at all -- forcing them to sleep on paper-thin mats or cold, dung floors making them susceptible to crawling, biting insects and disease. Sweet Sleep provides these children with a solid new bed frame with a thick foam mattress, vinyl mattress and pillow covers, mosquito nets when needed, a fluffy new pillow, comfy new sheets and a cozy new comforter. These orphaned children also receive a Bible in their language and are prayed with at their new beds.
"I vividly recall the hope and joy seen on the faces of congregations when organizations from America came in with a desire to help and bring up the cities of Romania and Moldova," Dora states. "Lives were changed and mine was one of them!"
Dora Pop was born in Oradea, Romania, and came to the United States at the age of two with her mother and sister. Her father had fled the country when Dora was six months old to come to America and provide a better life, full of religious freedoms, for his family.
Pop released her project, Who Am I, earlier this year and has been traveling full time with her ministry since this spring. To purchase her album, visit http://www.myspace.com/dorapopmusic or http://www.cdbaby.com.

Young Harmony Performs On Donny And Marie Show

Young Harmony was invited to sing on the program after Donny and Marie heard their version of “May Tomorrow Be A Perfect Day.” The song was a mainstay of the Donny and Marie Show that was on television several years ago. In fact, they ended every program with it. The song was written by Alan Ralph Osmond, M. Wayne Osmond and Merrill Davis Osmond.
The song was recorded by Young Harmony on their “Strength” project in 2005. “We decided to put the song on our project to give radio DJ’s a song that would be suitable to close their programs with,” stated Johnathan Bond. “I love the message of the song; straight and to the point! We never imagined it would give us the opportunity to sing the song on the Donny and Marie Show. It’s amazing to watch God Work and open doors for His Children!”
The performance in Nevada was taped for use in a DVD release of Donny and Marie’s Shows at a future date. The Young Harmony recorded version of the song is available on the “Strength” project and may be purchased wherever Gospel Music is sold or through the Young Harmony website.
