Observations By Bradley - Nov 04

Let me throw something out here that you may have noticed during all the election coverage that we have seen this month. Do you get tired of all the statistics that are totally unnecessary like I do? For example, the broadcaster or expert consultant might say, "This is the first election in 40 years in which the candidate with a dog named 'Darby' has won the state of Iowa." I guess you need plenty of material to fill twenty hours of waiting and waiting and waiting...

I'm sure it all can be blamed on this generation of the information super-highway. Fortunately, there is no limit to the knowledge you can gain by picking a topic and surfing the web in search of all the information you can scroll through. Unfortunately, it's almost too much. Which brings me to this observation...

Instead of all this superfluous information that thousands of people must be compiling around-the-clock, why not have them channel their efforts into providing a network of a universal balloting system that would allow us to get to bed at a decent hour instead of hearing a slouching, slobbering, sleep-deprived Tom Brokaw spout out the afore-mentioned unnecessary statistics? Wouldn't it be nice to know who the winner is within two to three hours of the polls closing? Keep dreaming. It probably won't happen until the Red Sox win another World Series (just for you, Nick).

Join me next time for "Why so many exit polls? What ever happened to entrance polls?"

Official disclaimer: This column expresses the views owned solely by me, Bradley Littlejohn, not Paid In Full or Sogospelnews.com. So if you've got a beef, e-mail me. But don't think for a minute that you can discourage me by punching holes in my arguments. And one other thing, I offer only observations. No real solutions. I don't think that far in advance.
