It was early one Saturday morning. I went to take my first sip of coffee and couldn’t believe my eyes! Floating to the top were little green plastic army men! My two little snaggle-tooth girls began to giggle as they sang, “The best part of waking up is ‘soldiers’ in your cup!” We had a wonderful morning with lots of giggling and fun. Rachel and Rebecca made my day on that morning – as they have every morning. Those soldiers weren’t in their usual place, but they sure did a service by the laughter and joy they gave us that day!
As Christians, we are often referred to as soldiers. We consider the “usual place” for soldiers as continually on the front lines of battle, but that is not always the case. Soldiers have “rotations” where they will be in battle for a period of time, and then they are relieved by other troops coming in. But even the troops that are sent home still have work to do. They clean their weapons, repack their mobility bags, and prepare for the next battle. They also take leave – time off. Don’t feel guilty if you are not on the front lines at the moment. God must have relieved you to give you a time to rest and prepare for the next battle. Have some fun, help somebody else out, and get ready for the next battle. Trust me – it’s coming.
till next time…
