I love listening to and discovering great new talent. The Cavaliers Quartet from Shelbyville, Tennessee is one of those rare finds. The potential is definitely there, and this will be a fun group to watch and see what happens down the road. They have a good, solid sound that is pleasing to the ear and they have a good mix of new and old songs and nice arrangements that allow them to show a bit of versatility as well.

The recording starts out with a great classic quartet number, "WHEN I CROSS TO THE OTHER SIDE OF JORDAN" and the song really fits the group well. In fact, half recording is filled with classic tunes such as "AFTER AWHILE", "THE LIGHTHOUSE", "THEN I MET THE MASTER" and "BEULAH LAND". Though not considered a classic, "I'M GOIN' THROUGH" is a song penned by producer, David Staton and was recorded by the Greenes several years ago.

There are several new tunes presented here and their current single, "JESUS SAVED MY SOUL" is about as Southern Gospel as they come and is a highly enjoyable song that has done quite well for the guys so far. "KEEP DRINKING WATER FROM THE WELL" is another fantastic uptempo song that the group shines on. On the flipside, "HOLY SPIRIT FILL THIS PLACE" is a worshipful ballad that the guys do equally as well as the previous uptempo tunes. Vocally, it's one of the strongest songs on the recording. "EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW" is a power ballad that the guys do well on and is a highlight of the recording.

These guys show some great potential and there truly are some moments of subtle brilliance here. There are a few issues worth mentioning such as pitch in a few places and sometimes they try to sing outside their scope of ability, but with the right guidance and time, they will really showcase their strong points and hone in on those things that need polishing.

I love the Cavaliers! Randy Mobley, writer of "Keep Drinking from the Well," "Jesus Saved my Soul," and "Holy Spirit Fill this Place" is an awesome writer. I think we have the next Bill Gaither on our hands, and I can tell what songs will be hits (or should be) before they become hits. Check this group out!
