The Oak Ridge Boys - The Gospel Sessions
Label: New Haven New Haven Records has gone back to recapture some of the greatest Oaks mostly hits of the 70s era. In my opinion, this was the greatest sound that the Oaks ever had. There are some songs on this CD that the Oaks simply put their name on. Songs like "The Flowers Kissed The Shoes Jesus Wore", "Daddy Sang Bass", "Put Your Hand In The Hand", and "Through It All" all have the indelible impression of the Oak Rige Boys all over them. Others, like "He Never Said A Word", "After Calvary", "He Did It All For Me" and "After All" we just huge song for them. Then you have some song on this CD that the Oaks just simply made Gospel classics. Songs like "King Jesus", "I Know", and "Jesus Is Coming Soon" are still being sung today. This is a great CD that will give you wonderful memories or a tremendous history lesson of what the Oak Ridge Boys founded their careers on. There are some fantastic old pictures on the inside of the packaging, which is an neat added bonus. Song List: King Jesus He Never Said A Word I Don't Know Why Jesus Loved Me These Hands Of Mine After Calvary Through It All The Flowers Kissed The Shoes Jesus Wore He Did It All For Me I Know Jesus Is Coming Soon Daddy Sang Bass Put Your Hand In The Hand After All Reader Comments
These are some really great Oaks tunes. Their output was always solid and the sum of the four vocal parts was always incredible. It's a shame that many forget their contributions from the early to mid 1960s with Smitty Gatlin though.
