Eighth Day Starts Off 2012 With Major Media and Radio Exposure

#1 Hit “May I Never Get Over the Cross” Named 2nd Most Played Song of the Year

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – (January 6, 2012) – Popular Southern Gospel trio Eighth Day are starting off the year with a bang. The group has seen an abundance of radio and media exposure due to the group’s #1 hit “May I Never Get Over the Cross” and current rising single “Are You Ready.”

Eighth Day’s #1 hit from last fall, “May I Never Get Over the Cross,” was named the 2nd most played song of the year according to AbsolutelyGospel.com. The song spent an impressive 4 weeks at #1 and was only surpassed in spins this year by one other song – Karen Peck & New River’s “On the Banks of the Promised Land.”

In addition, the group’s current single, “Are You Ready,” ranked #73 on the Top 100 Songs of 2011 after only 2 months at radio. The group was also among the 20 most played artists of the year – ranking at #13 this year.

“WOW! God is so amazing,” mentioned Scott Robinson of Eighth Day. “He has truly proven himself to be faithful. We are honored that He has blessed our ministry in this way.”

Eighth Day also earned buzz at the end of 2011 as they were named one of the Top 10 artists to watch in 2012 by the staff of AbsolutelyGospel.com – the industry’s largest and most read e-zine for Southern Gospel music.

The site said this about the trio:

“Eighth Day was no stranger to Southern Gospel music - scoring a handful of Top 20 hits before landing the career high of a #1 hit on both the Singing News Top 80 and AbsolutelyGospel.com Top 40 Weekly Chart. ‘May I Never Get Over the Cross’ was a hit by all standards, and Eighth Day is poised to take the Southern Gospel world by storm with the extra publicity that a #1 hit affords a group.
