In 1979, a group of devoted men assembled and began blessing numerous people in their home state of North Carolina through song. Though they have achieved various milestones and received countless accolades over the past 32 years, the main focus has always been to reach souls and change lives. The Anchormen have done just that since those early beginnings - reaching out to countless Gospel Music Fans across the whole nation.
The excitement of this quartet and the new buzz that is created around the Gospel Music Industry has reached a new height over the past 10 months with returning Anchormen veterans; lead singer Dale Forbes, and most recently group manager and founding member Terry Carter joining tenor Karl Rice and bass vocalist Paul Harkey.
Terry Carter states, “During my early days of childhood, singing in a Gospel quartet was all I ever wanted to do. One year as a teenager at church camp, Ivan Parker and I talked about how enthused we were at the idea of launching a quartet some day. Ivan and I went our different ways, but I thank God that the original owner of The Anchormen, the late Ray Bullard, along with myself understood the vision that God had birthed for this quartet. Presently, current owner Tim Bullins plus the current lineup of The Anchormen sense the importance more than ever of how this group was established during the early years of The Anchormen ministry and what we are yet to achieve as we continue to fulfill the call of God upon all of us a unit.”
The Anchormen perform more than 200 concerts per year in approximately 30 states and have sung on esteemed venues in past years, such as CMA Music Fest in Nashville, Tennessee, some the largest state and county fairs, theme parks such as Dollywood, Paramount Carowinds, and Tweetsie Railroad, Praise the Lord television broadcasts on the Trinity Broadcasting Network and over 26 years on the National Quartet Convention. Their radio success lists over 20 Top 40 singles and a #1 hit in 1998 - “Giver of Life.”
The Anchormen are working on a new recording with their new label home Homeland Inspiration Group titled Believe. The whole theme of this new recording is reflective in the them that there is hope in Jesus, Salvation to everyone that calls on his name and that true living is only through the blood and his name. Their first single that is already climbing the radio charts, “I Enter In”, is being well received by listening audiences.
Homeland Director of Media Relations Eric Melton states, “The Anchormen are a refined group of outstanding Christian gentlemen. I appreciate their Christian walk as they live what they sing about, but also the exuberance they create in every concert. Not only do concert attendees enjoy their style of quartet music, but many souls have been saved as a result of their ministry. I had the opportunity to work with them at another label in the 1990s, and now with our label at Homeland representing them on their new recording ventures, it is like a homecoming. We feel very blessed to have them on the Homeland family of artists’ roster.”
The Believe project is being produced by Donna Beauvais and Homeland Vice President Scott Godsey. The project is set to release November 22, 2011 which is the Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving weekend.
