What a blessing! I was having a bad week and I began looking at this website. I found this article and it was very uplifting! It's funny how God sends us words we need to hear (or read) at different times in our lives. I sure needed to hear this today! God Bless You!

New Ground goes further than the ears they reach the soul. Robbie and Dale are very special people, and we love them from the bottom of our hearts. I always thought Robbie could sing, I always thought Robbie could do everything. I love you.

We are convinced that God puts people into your life that He wants you to associate with. A couple of years ago, he placed New Ground into our lives. Never have we had such coaches, mentors, cheerleaders, and wonderful friends as these 3 people. Robbie, you're one of a kind. Dale, what a wealth of knowledge. Dave, what a talent. Thanks, guys, for all you have done for us. We can never repay. We know that you deserve every accolade that God sends your way. We love ya!

What an awesome article you presented! You will never know how special you and Diana & Zachary are to the entire New Desire team. Thanks for inviting us to perform on your showcase at NQC. Not that I'm anybody extraordinary, but I wouldn't be where I am today had it not been for Robbie Maxwell. I'm just one of a number of individuals she and Dale have helped aspire to greater heights in the Southern Gospel music industry. Thanks Robbie.
Dale is my mentor as a musician - the boy can play anything he puts his hands on. And you should hear him sing "Rank Stranger." Be sure and request it at their next concert.
David is pretty much worthless, but I love him anyway! (just kidding D).
I'm blessed to know these wonderful Southern Gospel artists, but I'm most blessed to call them friends. You guys are awesome.
    Sing-cerely,
    Eddie

A great article about the Harmoneers, John. We didn't get to see this group in this part of the country often. I remember seeing them in person just one time in Monroe, Louisiana in the early 50's (52, I think). My father, Garland May, was part of a group that sponsored a concert there featuring the Harmoneers, Rangers Quartet, and a couple of other groups. The crowd was so great that they had to make emergency arrangements to use a second auditorium. I recall that when a quartet finished singing in the primary auditorium, they were rushed over to the other auditorium to sing to the overflow audience. A great memory of a great quartet!! Thanks so much for providing us with the info and the memories.

  67.    Ashley Duduit on: Mike Bowling ~ 11/01/2002

Mike Bowling is by far one of my favorite soloists, and I am so glad that you did a feature on him. This boy can sing!! If I'm right, I don't think any SG soloist has accomplished two back to back #1 songs except for Mike. That is such an accomplishment, but he has also raised a beautiful daughter and has been a Godly example and friend to many. Most of all he has witness to many souls, which is the biggest accomplishment of all.

  72.    Dee Ann Bailey on: Editorial - Did You Teach Your Kids To Pray? ~ 11/01/2002

I have tried to teach my daughter to pray but this thought has been on my mind as well over recent weeks. Did I teach her enough? Did I teach by example and not by 'do as I say, not as I do'?

I've been writting in a journal 'Blessings for my Daughter' that I plan to give her on her 15th birthday. In that I have again told her how much I love her, that I love her enough to pray for her and to try to lead her in the right way.

I've told her how important prayer, Bible study and trusting God is. While I've tried before and most days believe I've done a decent job, I don't ever want to become unaware of the dangers she faces each day!

    Parker,
    I am diabled,but GOD has been good.My
prayer list is what i am able to do now.
You and your wife will be lifted up daily.
We are told to pray for one another w/o
ceasing:to rejoice and weep with one
another. Please tell your wife she gave up
her husband so GOD could minister to us:
it is only fair we give you back to her, till
sometime in HIS future will.God bless:)

a great thought that reminds all of us to do just that: teach and/or remind our children where the power of life is really held, in the hands of God. Prayers is the way to reach that power becuase he loves his children so very much

Thanks for a great article. Sometimes it is difficult to agree on the exact dates for Gospel group changes. I dug up a late 1973 or early 1974 article from Good News, a publication of the Gospel Music Association. The article says Strevel was business manager of the group and one of the partners (with Tripp, Gates, Crowe and Fred Daniel who had retired to manage the group's office affairs). It said Strevel joined the group on June 27, 1947. In 1956, he left for 8 years but retained his partnership. The article says Crowe had been with the group 12 years which means he joined in 1961 or 62. Tripp joined the group on Jan. 11--four years ago, which would have been the beginning of 1969 or 1970. Gates joined the group in 1949 and remained with them except for a period of 18 months.

This group is outstanding. I have never heard such wonderful harmony in a female trio. They are truely blessded by God. I have heard them sing several times before. They live by what they sing. They are annointed of God when they sing as well. I hope that they continue in the ministry that God has placed them. I would love to hear more about them in the VERY near future.

    May God Bless You,

    Sarah

I had the joy of sharing a concert with this wonderful group of men. They not only had a great quartet, but were gracious to work with. It is my hope that many will come to know these men and their ministry, support them, enjoy their recordings, and come to their concerts. The Southern Gospel Music Industry is enhanced by the Standifers!

Reading this article reminded me of the time I participated in the NQC talent search. A 10 year-old kid sang before me playing a ukelale(Ican't spell!), and scored higher than I did! As a friend of Bill Traylor, he told me to pisk an old song and do it well. As a high tenor, I sang an e flat that day - with power. Before the contest Kirk Talley was taking Jane Greene around and introducing her to the judges. Guess who won? I don't think I should have won, but this definitely was not a fair contest. By the way, within a year I was hired by a full-time national group, and traveled with them 4.5 years, singing around the country, as well as the Grand Ole Opry, the NQC, and numerous large events. Even received the "key to the city" and a senate proclamation in Missouri. Ain't God good?

    Mr. Unthank,
We have been watching Crossway (we call them "our boys") for about 3 years now and are not at all surprised at their new song making #1. These guys have about the tightest harmony in the music industry today. They have been such an inspiration to us and we thank God that He has brought them into our lives.

No, this "God Made A Way" chorus starts out with, God made a way for me, beyond the crystal sea, he's coming back someday... Hope this helps.
