Blackwood Gospel Quartet and New Millennium Quartet Merge

imageKNOXVILLE, TN - The Blackwood Gospel Quartet and the New Millennium Quartet announce they are merging the two groups. This is a very exciting merger as it brings Ken Turner back to the famous Blackwood sound. Ken Turner sang with the Blackwood Brothers Quartet from 1971 until 1986. In those years, the group won five Grammy Awards and won many Dove awards. Two of those Grammy's came from recordings Mark Blackwood produced. Ken later sang with the James Blackwood Quartet.

This merger came about when Wayne Little, from the New Millennium Quartet started filling in with the Blackwood Gospel Quartet. Mark Blackwood and Wayne developed a good working relationship and decided they wanted to sing together all the time. Wayne invited Roger Burnett of New Millennium to sing the baritone. Roger has a familiar name in gospel music because of his ten year tenure with the Melody Masters Quartet. Mark's bass singer, Dean Haskins, now plays the piano as Ken Turner was brought in to sing the bass.

The Blackwood Gospel Quartet does not take their heritage in gospel music lightly, nor the responsibility of integrity that goes with it. It is the sincere desire of the Blackwood Gospel Quartet that the people who hear them will be moved to a deep spiritual commitment and give all the glory to the Lord Jesus.

What happened to the lead and the tenor singer that the Blackwood Gospel Quartet had before the merger? I heard them several months ago and was impressed with these two young men.

Chad, if you were inferring about Scott Allen and myself, then things are going great. Scott is currently working on his solo project and spending time with his new lttle baby, while I felt God calling me to go back to school, where I'm majoring in music education and vocal performance. I'm sure Scott will more than make an impact on people's lives in anything he does, as for me, I'm sure God has a nice quartet waiting for me when school's over. Thanks for thinking about us.

Thanks Andrew. You guys were the ones I was referring to. I heard you back in January/February in Seffner, FL, and liked what I heard. Good luck to both of you, and God bless.
