Naomi And The Segos Hire Mark Stapleton As New Tenor
(Press Release)- Naomi and The Segos are proud to officially announce the hiring of Fitzgerald, Georgia native Mark Stapleton as the group's new tenor singer effective immediately.
According to S.G.M.A. Hall of Fame member Naomi Sego, "My tenor singer, Darrell Monroe, had to resign because of time demands because of his side business of breeding and raising dogs and cats. Since we made the announcement that we were looking, we have received numerous demo tapes from people all over the country interested in singing with our group, but Mark was close to us geographically and I have been impressed with his singing when we would sing with The Accords. I am honored that he would think enough of us to be a part of our ministry. I would also like to thank Jeremy Partlow, Eddie Reynolds, and Terry Dorsey. They also auditioned and went with us on the road and tried out. All three are fine Christian men and I wish them all the best of luck, as well as Darrell, in their endeavors".
Mark is a native of Fitzgerald, Georgia. He is a member and deacon of Crossview Baptist Church. He and his wife Tammie have one son, Joel, who is a senior at Jacksonville State University in Alabama. He was the owner and lead singer of the Singing Emmanuels for over 20 years, and more recently sang lead for The Accords of Jacksonville, Florida. Mark was the first recipient of the SGMA Gem award for "Most Promising Male Vocalist" in 1986 and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Gospel Music Association. Mark and Tammie will continue to make their home in historic Fitzgerald, Georgia. Mark's first official date with Naomi and The Segos will be Friday June 6th in Atoka, Oklahoma.
