SouthernGospelNews.com Talent Contest Winners Announced
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The 5th Annual SouthernGospelNews Convention and Talent Contest took place July 28 – July 31, 2004. The Talent Contest proved a success as more than 25 artists participated in the contest. The contest was hosted by Southern Spin Entertainment’s Chris D. Unthank, as he offered humorous relief between each contestant.
Below are the winners of each division:
Group Competition
1st Place – Coble Family, from Cleburne, Texas
2nd Place – Jim Davis Family, from Riverdale, California
3rd Place – OneWay Quartet, from Memphis, Tennessee
Soloist Competition
1st Place – Kymberly Wooten, from Checotah, Oklahoma
2nd Place – Lauren Mascitti, from Louisville, Ohio
3rd Place – Lori Douglas, from Murfreesboro, Tennessee
1st Place contestants received six hours studio time from Three Hills Music Group and Hilltop Studios, as well as 100 CDs of the final product.
2nd Place contestants received three months radio promotion from the Rick Hendrix Company and a free web design by Southern Spin Entertainment.
3rd Place contestants received 10 free accompaniment tracks from Daywind Records.
Judges for the contest were some of the industry’s finest. The judges were Judy Martin-Hess (The Martins), Crystal Burchette (Daywind Records), Zane King (Journey Records), Nick Bruno (producer), Buffi Holland (formerly of Spring Hill Music Group), Donna Beauvais (Hope’s Call), and Philip Emery (DJ Man Promotions).
