Louisville, KY—The Southern Gospel Music Guild (SGMG) honored Scott Fowler and Maurice Templeton at a reception hosted by BMI during the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, KY last week.

Fowler was honored with the Humanitarian Award for his efforts during friend and Legacy Five co-founder, Roger Bennett’s battle with cancer. Fowler has been the driving force behind raising the money for Bennett’s bone marrow transplant, as well as other expenses accrued during his illness.

Templeton was honored with the Guild Lifetime Achievement Award. Templeton currently serves as the publisher of the Singing News Magazine and continues to be active in Southern Gospel music with The National Quartet Convention and The Southern Gospel Music Association's Hall of Fame and Museum.

Members of Legacy Five and the families of the recipients were present, along with many other friends and family. Roger Bennett sent words of thanks to the two through letter, while Gerald Wolfe presented Fowler his award and Singing News Editor, Jerry Kirksey read a history of Templeton and then gave him his award.

Both men accepted with words of appreciation.
