Hope’s Call
"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you?" 1 Peter 3:15. Not only is this verse the one in which Hope's Call stand by, it's the perfect verse that best describes them.
This lady trio, based out of Michigan, have it in their hearts to share the Hope in which Christ has given us. This family ministry consists of Donna Beauvais (Bow-Vay), Donna's daughter, Jessica Beauvais, and family friend, Jerri VanEck. Paul Beauvais is Donna's husband, and though he does not sing, the ladies consider him to be the right hand man, manager, sound man, and leader of the group.
About 5 years ago, Donna noticed that Jessica was showing an interest in singing. "I realized that my daughter had a desire, and I could nurture that desire. My biggest ministry is being a wife and mother, and since my daughter had this desire, I felt I needed to nurture her in it. So, we sang and God blessed," states Donna. Donna had shared a ministry before with Jerri, and felt that it was God's will to add to the ministry her and her daughter shared. So, Jerri joined the Beauvais', and thus began the fulfilling of a calling to minister as a family. "Jerri is just like family to us. We began as a family, seeking God, all of us around the table praying. We all had the desire to reach the lost," says Donna.
In January 2002, Hope's Call won the Solid Gospel "Big One" Talent Contest. "We really weren't expecting to win. We simply sent in our project for a critique and won the contest. Our prayer since then has been nothing but thankfulness. We are so thankful to have won if we could point people to Christ in the process." Since winning the "Big One" Talent Contest, Hope's Call has put out their second project, "Offering of Praise". Their latest single, "I'll Be Gone", which you can hear quite often on Solid Gospel, is from their debut recording "Reasons".
Last fall, God spoke to both Paul and Donna to move forward into full time ministry. "I'm a logical person," says Donna, "but God is a God of trust and faith. I had to and am having to learn to trust God to meet our needs. It's so puzzling yet amazing at times. The God of Creation can meet our EVERY need."
"One of our most treasured moments was last Christmas in Pontiac, MI. It was an intimate crowd and they were going to have a candle-light service. We sang and the pastor gave a few words. The Holy Spirit was so free. After the pastor shared the Gospel, 5 people found the greatest gift of their lives, Jesus Christ. As the lights went out for the candle-lighting, each candle was lit one by one. We all stood in amazement to realize that those who came in out of the darkness of this world, now are in the light of Jesus Christ."
Hope's Call has a spirit of thankfulness all around them. They are thankful that God has given them the desire to reach the hopeless. Not just those who don't know Christ, but those who are hurting and need a little hope to make it through the day. "God is really teaching us to trust Him and His power and what He can accomplish and when He accomplishes it," states Donna. "There's no need to worry when we are in His hands. He is just awesome."
Many have inspired Hope's Call through their journey. "Roger & Debra Talley and the Talley Trio have been such an encouragement to us. While on a vacation weekend, they came out to a concert we were performing at in their area and supported us." Donna also says that Karen Peck has been such a blessing to her and her family. "Karen has a true love for people and she focuses on what God has told her to give to people." Donna's son, Joshua, was diagnosed with a rare auto-immune disease. Joshua had a rare attack on his kidneys full-throttle. He spent much time in and out of the hospital for a couple months. "I was so down. It seemed that when I was at my worst, I heard her sing at a concert. Her songs really ministered to me. On a later Monday morning, I received a phone call from Karen. She said that she wanted me to know that she was praying for Joshua, right then and there."
For Hope's Call, it's obvious that they are willing to minister to those without hope at whatever cost. Currently they are praying that God would provide them with a bigger mode of transportation. "We are trusting God, and when the time comes, He'll provide that for us. We just want to be a vessel to encourage." Hope's Call is truly doing that!
