Mike Bowling - It’s My Life

Variety is one of the hardest things that a soloist has to accomplish.  Mike has found a new twist to doing that. He has used several different well known background singers, giving a totally different sound to each song.

The opening song has Chris Freeman and Larry Hinson singing background giving this almost an old Hinsons sound. “The Light” is a message of encouragement. “I Won’t Give Up” is a lively number with Bill Shivers and Craig Singletary of Brian Free and Assurance doing the background. I think that this one would make a good radio release.

He keeps the whole thing in the family on “I Take Him Back”, using this song written by Father-in-law Gerald Crabb and using his sister-in-law Terah Penhollow and himself on the background vocals. This is one of my favorites on the CD and they were wise to use this as the first radio release for the CD. The message is a positive praise and testimony.

On “Patience”, using Janet Paschal and Ray “Chip” Davis on the background, he gives this cut a little more progressive sound. This is one of those songs that you can sit back and pray the words as they sing them.

Using Paul Lancaster and Judy Martin Hess, both of The Martins, as background, Mike sort of keeps that progressive sound going on “The Maker Of The Cross”. It’s a strong ballad penned by Gerald Crabb. On “He Gave Me Water”, a song written by Mike and his brother-in-law Aaron Crabb, he uses the Ruppe sisters, Kim Ruppe Lord, Heather Ruppe Day, and Valerie Ruppe Ellenberg. This is a very worshipful song.

Another song I think would do really good on radio is “Someday I Know”, which was written by Mike, has a nice upbeat track to it. Background vocals are by his Wife Kelly and his brother-in-law Adam Crabb.

Other songs include the old hymn classic “We’ll Understand It Better”, “It’s Time to Go back Home”, “The Journey” and “He Won’t Leave Us”

I think this CD is much better than his last. "Patience" is my fav song. That song hits me EXACTLY where I live!! I am one of the most impatient people in the whole world.

This CD is pretty good. I've only listened to it a couple of times while in the car and not entirely focused on it. Nothing jumped out at me as a "big radio hit," like "Thank God For The Preacher." I'd be more inclined to give it 4 stars than 5.

I think his last cd was awesome as well....but I agree with James....I think this one is even better. I hear quite a few songs that I think would be good radio songs. My favorites are "The Light" (hey I'm a Hinson fan...what do you expect? lol) and "The Journey." But I also enjoy and think that "Patience" and "The Maker Of The Cross" would do very well! And we already know that "I Take Him Back" is awesome!! "Patience" is an awesome song!! That's me! lol

This new project is probably my favorite! I honestly never thought that Mike could top his recording "The Call". After all, it gave him two back to back #1 songs and had another radio hit. However this project has a lot of quality songs and Mike's vocal talents are incredible on this recording. My favorite songs are his most recent radio single "I Take Him Back", along with the songs "The Maker Of The Cross" and "Someday I Know". Mike, you really outdid yourself on this project! I really admire you, your ministry, and the life you live when not on stage. May God richly bless you, Kelly, Hope, and your little one on the way. I love ya Mike!

It really does something to you when you've had this CD for three days and your 3 year old nephew already knows the songs. Mike is Chase's buddy, and he really looks up to him. When Chase sings along with The Maker of the Cross it touches me deeply. I asked him what he was saying. Chase looked at me like I was dumb and said,"Mike said when he looks at his hands and glance in the mirror he sees the maker of the cross." Needless to say I was speechless.

Mike kind of sounds like Kenny Hinson on his cd so i listened to him in person. He could'nt touch Kenny with a ten foot pole.

This is truly the best CD yet with promises of number one songs. My 3 year old son Chase looks up to Mike and loves to sing along with "The Maker of the Cross" and "We'll Understand it Better"...He knows every word to both of the songs. Mike...Chase loves you!

Cyberpashofa is apparently a Kenny Hinson fan. Since I'm not, I can disagree with him/her. Mike Bowling is way better than Kenny Hinson ever was. Mike sings with a lot more feeling than Kenny did. I think this listening to the CD or in person. This is a great CD.

This is a "must" project that everyone should have. The song, "Patience" hits home for me. I love that song. Also, I feel that the song "He gave me water" is another one for a release to the radio! God Bless you all! Keep up the good work!
