Crabb Family - Dec 04
![]() I have taken it upon myself to write the article this month for the Crabb Family. I did not ask permission, nor run my opinion by them, so I may be risking it, but I just feel the need to share my heart. Seven years ago, I was asked to write an article for Singing News Magazine, my second ever, on a new group known as the Crabb Family. I was very unfamiliar with this family, but felt an instant connection with them the first time we talked. I had been to concert after concert and was a Southern Gospel fan. Some of my favorite singers in this world were, and still are, in this industry. I think Southern Gospel is made up of some of the greatest people that have ever walked the face of the earth. In August of 1998, I heard the Crabb Family live for the first time! Wow!!! I had never had such an experience. It was nothing that they did or said, it was the Spirit of God that was there. It was evident when they walked on stage that they were there for one purpose- to lift up the name of Jesus! Reader Comments

GREAT JOB ALLISON! What a great article. Allison, don't worry, I know that the family will be proud and honored of what you wrote. While bragging on the Crabbs, let me also brag on Allison. She works hard everyday to do her job to the best of her ablity. I talk with her very often and she is always working hard and I think she does a super job! That also goes for all the staff they have. I just want to say THANK YOU for all of your hard work Allison!

GREAT ARTICLE ALLISON! Like Josh, I too talk to Allison quite often when calling the Crabb office. No matter what she's doing, she always has time to stop and take time for my call. She and the rest of the office staff are far above the norm for most "behind-the-scene" industry people.
If you've never heard the Crabbs live you have no idea what you're missing! Believe me -- you'd better go prepared to worship because that's what they come to do! I could never put into words what this family means in my life. We met them some 5 years ago or so and they've become friends over the years. Not all groups on the road take time for their fans. The Crabbs don't call their "followers" fans they call us "friends." That means alot. They are truly the same on stage and off and that is also hard to find these days. I truly believe that is why they are so blessed in their ministry. Like Allison said, they may not look the same today as they did 5 years ago but I can promise that NOTHING else has changed about them except for a deeper Spiritual relationship with the Lord that they live everyday and aren't ashamed to share His word with anyone. I've stood in auditoriums all across Georgia and even in Tennessee with them when people where packed wall to wall trying to get in or out or to product tables. No matter how many people were around, I've seen them bow with people to pray right in the middle of the floor and not care what was going on around them. That's another thing you don't see very often anymore. They don't care what is going on -- they are there to be a friend to everyone when the times are good or bad. Thank you Crabb Family for always being true to your calling and true to your friends all across the country. Remember when the criticism comes in, you've got someone in Georgia that loves you and prays for you every day! God bless you all, Missy Dorrell

Fantastic article Allison. I'm a southern gospel DJ and fan. I too have heard the Crabb Family criticized. I wonder if people that criticize them are just jealous of their tremendous success. I met the Crabbs at NQC 04 and they were the nicest out of ALL the artists. The Crabbs find a regular spot on my show!
God Bless, Nate

I was just talking with Josh on MSN and he sent me this link.. I don't know how I overlooked it earlier. But reading it, I was all smiles. Allison, you did an excellent job...you are one of the hardest working people that I know. Observing the way you handled Crabbfest this year, I was amazed that you didn't just collapse, lol! While I read this I recalled the first time I met the Crabbs in 2000. When I think of where I was then, and where I am now, I can see how their ministry and their friendships have impacted my life. I couldn't be more thankful for a ministry than I am for that of the Crabb Family.
God bless, Ashley
