I’m reviewing a couple of CDs this month that are not new, but rather fairly old. One is unreleased material and the other re-released material for many years ago.

The first one is that of The Cathedrals. Most of the time you would think of them as The Cathedral Quartet, but this one is The Cathedrals because most of the songs feature them individually, and not as the quartet.

This project has never been released before so the group members are Glen Payne, George Younce, Kirk Talley, Mark Trammell, and Roger Bennett.

Glen Payne is in fine voice as he expresses the old song “Time Has Made A Change” as only he can sing it. As I listened to Glenn singing this song, my mind kept going back to days gone by and realizing that time really has made a change in me. Kirk Talley has a beautiful rendition of old Rusty Goodman song “Look For Me”. He also puts a little soul into the cut of “I Go To The Rock.” George Younce gives us plenty to think about as he sings “The Rumor Mill”. This one would still be a radio cut today. Mark Trammell is featured on the rousing number “Walking Down Here, Thinking Up There”. The background singers do a fantastic job on all of these songs.

Roger Bennett rounds out the CD with the lively old hymn, “I’m In The Gloryland Way”, tickling the ivory in a variety of styles. Other songs include “Keeper Of The Well”, “Poor Rich Man”, and I’ve Got More To Go To Heaven For”
