Are You Different?
![]() For years I have had the mindset of expecting to “be changed” every time I leave a church service - I mean where there is a definitive difference. I admit there were times in the past that I was looking under the pew for God because it didn’t seem like He had made it past the usher in the vestibule! Don’t take me wrong – I believe the Spirit of God dwells in the believer (I Corinthians 3:16)... that God has promised to never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5) – but some of you know what I’m talking about when you are in those incredible services where you can feel the presence of God and hear Him speak to your heart! And some of you know what it is like to be in a “dead” service where the Holy Spirit is not given liberty. Reader Comments

Sally,
Amen! A powerful message that is also applicable to those of us who serve in leadership and compensated church positions. Too often we attend that for which we're resposnsible and then stay home "laying before the Lord" on other worship occasions. By the way, who is that "thorn" among three lovely roses?? Seriously, you, the Quick Family, are anointed messengers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through your God imparted gifts of voice and music. You are special to all of us. We love you.

Sally what a great article. And so true!
How can we as singers feed if we are not fed! I know lots of local groups that never attend church unless they are singing much less support other groups when they are. Reminds me of times when they start having troubles in the group and they want too give up so easy and stop singing. God don't stop with us he never places a stop sign.Sometimes he lets it be yellow long enough too try and teach us.. Great Article and keep up the group work. We love you guys and so proud of you! Accountability, Accountability. Accountability! Sally, I believe this is where we as a church need to begin or should I say get back to. You don't find many christians encouraging others anymore. I thank God for the Quicks whom God used to hold me accountable and encouraged me to follow through with my education and call into full-time ministry!
Way to go! We need more vocalization in challenging our brothers and sisters in Christ!

I agree with you Sally as well as the commentators on your article.
I've heard so many excuses from singers as to why they do not attend church unless they are singing. The most frequent excuse is that they are, "Tired from giving so much for the Lord and they need to have the break from the routine of Church." I immediately wonder what the Lord thinks. I know that you get renewed through daily Bible reading and prayer but there is something a home Church offers that you cannot get on you own. To me, it's like being a member of a family and never seeing the family. Yes, you could be encouraged by having the family name but what about the fellowship that comes with your earthly family. I believe the Lord is saddened when we don't come together at every opportunity to worship Him, learn of Him, and learn from others who are just like me.
