Crabb Family - Mar 05
I spent some time today really evaluating the Crabb Family’s ministry…where they’ve come from…the roads they’ve paved…how they’ve done it! Of course with out a calling and God-given ability seasoned with a holy anointing, there is no way they could have set out to climb the ladder of success in ministry. However, there is so much more to what they do than talent, and even a calling. God gives us abilities and calls us to work for him, but it is up to us what we do with those abilities and how we handle the callings He places on our lives.
One of the first things I noticed about the Crabb Family is their genuine love for people. They are willing to go the extra mile to make someone feel special. They sincerely love and appreciate the people who support their ministry. Another thing I’ve noticed is their work ethics. They never just “show up and sing.” They do everything they can in advance to make sure each date is the best it can be. That is why I have a job.
One of my primary job responsibilities is advancing dates. Let me explain just what this means. Beginning 8 weeks out, I contact promoters of each date and establish a good working relationship. I touch base with them, make sure we have correct phone numbers to give out when people call our office for info. I have learned never to assume that something is correct. As the date grows closer, I contact them weekly. We offer to send out post cards to our mailing list in the area, or send labels to the promoter if he or she is already doing a mail out. Many promoters have mastered the importance of keeping a current mailing list. We assist with newspaper by sending out Press Releases or setting up interviews. We schedule radio interviews and send out email blasts for every date. This really is “full-time” for the Crabb Family. They don’t have a day off! I am getting weekly reports from promoters who appreciate the extra work. The Crabb Family is also averaging 90 to 95 % sell-out success. Our philosophy here in the office, and theirs on the road, is that every date deserves equal attention. From the smallest church in the hills to the Opry, there will be someone who is lost, someone who is hurting, someone who needs Jesus. It is our responsibility to do EVERYTHING we can to make sure that person finds answers. The answers aren’t in the Crabb Family, but if they are booked to sing, they are the avenues God has ordained for that particular time to present the answers. That is serious business! What I cannot comprehend is that, on rare occasions, we offend promoters by offering our assistance. Explain that one to me.
Anyway, I just thought I’d share with you the work that goes into each and every Crabb Family appearance. When you see the bus roll in know that hours of work and time have gone into making sure that things go smoothly. I challenge everyone to do your part. If you hear about a concert, tell someone or take a friend. Support Christian music in your area. Buy the tickets and the music. Most of all, spend some time on your knees. Without God, nothing will work. Ask Him to direct every step taken before and during the concert and to send souls who need encouragement. Let’s work together as a team!
