This month we want to share some things with you about the journey God has brought us through over the past year or so. Our God is so wonderful! He has done great things for us and in us and He wants to do the same for you. Hopefully something of our testimony will be encouraging to you.

We were blown away when Armond told us he was going to retire and give us (Jeremie, Shannon, Ian and Jason) the Imperials. We honestly didn’t know what to expect. We didn’t know if anyone would want to hear us, or if people would accept us as “The Imperials” since for the first time in 40 years there was no original member in the group. As it turns out, the response has been overwhelming! We want to say thank you to all of our supporters and fans.

How does this tell you about God? How can you relate to it? Well, you have to understand something. When we started out on our own things didn’t always go very well. Sometimes we weren’t comfortable singing with each other and we certainly weren’t comfortable managing a group. We didn’t even all have the same dreams and goals for the group. Money was extremely tight and we weren’t sure how we would make it. At times we tried to do things on our own, through our own power and of course, that never works. A few times we even considered shutting it down and moving on to other things.

But out of all the pain, heartache and even anger God brought something good. We were driven to our knees. We had to learn very quickly to put God first and us second. We had to lay down our own dreams and goals in order to focus on God. And in so doing, He has brought forth our dreams in a new way. Now our dreams and goals have changed. We are going after something completely different and much bigger than anything we could have dreamed up on our own. We are going after God! He is truly all we want. We want to please Him, sing for Him, and bring Him joy in our lives, in our singing, in our marriages, in our families. In seeking Him we have found so much more than what we might have dreamed of before. Not only have we found Him and his plans for us, we have found our true selves. We have found where we belong. We have found our voice. There is a much greater sense of His peace now. We are resting in Him and we know that He will lead us to His place for us in His time. We have watched as time and again He has provided for our families and us in miraculous ways.

What about you? What has God called you to do? As our story proves, it may not be easy – things may not just fall into your lap in a perfect way. Know that God has a plan for you and it is much better than anything you can dream up on your own. Your own dreams and ideas of success may get in your own way! Lay your dreams before Him and let Him reveal His plans for your life and ministry. He does have something for you to do and He has a dream, a plan for you that fits you perfectly. Be sure to seek Him with all of your heart and then work with Him as He shows you where you belong and as He gives you your voice. Not only will you find Him; you’ll find His dream for you as well. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
