Christlike Wins First SGN Music Award
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Christlike, one of the fastest rising talents in Southern and Country Gospel, took part in the 2005 SGN Music Awards last night. The group won Breakthrough Artist of the Year – tying with popular quartet Mercy’s Mark Quartet.
“This was just totally unexpected,” remarked Weylin Bohannan of Christlike. “We weren’t expecting to win at all, and this is just one of the greatest things that has ever happened to us as a group. We want to thank SouthernGospelNews.com for allowing a group of guys like us to take part in such a classy program.”
In addition to winning the award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Christlike opened the program with their current hit single “Here I Am Again.”
The group was also nominated for Country/Bluegrass Album of the Year for their latest offering Journey.
The SGN Music Awards are an annual award handed out by the staff at Southern Gospel’s leading internet magazine, SouthernGospelNews.com. The unique aspect of the SGN Music Award is that the nominees are chosen by the staff, yet the fans are given the opportunity to vote for the winners.
The SGN Music Awards were handed out last night, April 26, 2005, at Belle Aire Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN. In addition to Christlike, other artists like the Hoskins Family, Hope’s Call, Mike Bowling, Gold City, the Crabb Family, and many more performed.
Christlike’s current single, “Here I Am Again” is already tearing up the radio airwaves. The single is currently sitting at #7 on the SouthernGospelNews.com Top 40 Weekly Chart and #14 on the American Christian Music Journal’s Top 50 Southern Gospel Chart.
Christlike will also be a featured performer at the 6th Annual Gospel Music Fan Festival later this summer.
