I don’t know about you, but I’m a little skeptical about where I send my money. I work hard for the little money I have, and I want to know that if I send it somewhere, that it is going to do the work for which I am sending it, and not just lining someone’s pocket.

One day I sat through the World Vision sponsoring program and was pleasantly surprised that the percentage of money getting to the helpless people is very, very high. I was impressed enough that I wanted to sponsor a child, but somehow in the shuffle of life MY vision got sidetracked and never got around to it. Then in January of this year, 2005, a terrible disaster occured when a tsunami hit Sri Lanka and tens of thousands lost their lives. My mind was quickly taken back to World Vision. I do get the World Vision magazine and they showed the pictures of many of the sponsored children who lost their lives during that terrible force of nature. Again I had my eyes opened to World Vision as I watched the national news programs and heard them describe the Red Cross and World Vision as the two major organizations being able to get in there and help those poor people. World Vision was able to be of so much help because they already have staff in place around the world. While others were scrambling around trying to get things together, World Vision was already there. I, by no means mean to take away from the intentions of those good hearted people, but the fact remains that World Vision is an organization already doing a work to help the starving and destitute people around the world.

I had conditioned myself so that I could look at those little children with protruded bellies from starvation and send it past my mind so that it didn’t bother me. However, since the tsunami disaster, I haven’t been able to shake them out of my mind as easily as I could in the past. Finally I have put into motion the effort to help those helpless children through World Vision.

We have put a link to World Vision on the front page of this website. I would like to invite you to join me in sponsoring a child. They have various programs that you can help children in different ways, so I’ll just suggest that you click the link, read it for yourself, and see if the Lord nudges you to sponsor a child or help in some other way.

Remember the scripture that says “You fed me when I was hungry and you clothed me when I was naked”. The question was, “Lord, when did we see you hungry or naked?” Jesus’ answer was, “When you did it to the least of these.” Now is the time that you can “Do it to the least of these.”

Amen Deon. It is a worth-while program. I get pictures and letters from my child on a regular basis. I know folks who have gone to visit their kids and actually see the good things that World Vision is doing. Hey, it takes no more than the cost of a diet coke per day to support a child.

Thanks Deon for providing this service. World Vision is a first rate organization and well respected for their humanitarian efforts as well as for spreading the Gospel in a practical way.

I have heard this complaint from one of their competitors. World Vision goes into places that most cannot get into. They do have to watch what they do in many Muslim countries. It does them no good to get kicked out of a country and lose the trust of the people by not obeying the laws of the country. World Vision states that when afforded the opportunity they evangelize, but otherwise in those countries they evangelize by their works and let the light of Jesus show through the witness of their lives. Many missionaries must first get the trust of the people by working with them and feeding them, before they can ever start evangelizing them. World Vision is doing a tremendous work.

Sorry I don't see evangelize in there. "And they will know we are Christians by our love".

I sponsor a child through World Vision and it is a joyful experience for me too1 At a Singing on June 1, 2003, Holy Spirit nudged me to become a Sponsor and I try to obey God when He gives me a whisper about anything, so I am telling Everyone you will be blessed by becoming a Sponsor in World Vision, They send like 84% of what is given DIRECTLY to these Children too! God gave me 3-sons and they were a blessing to me, BUT this girl in Indonesia is such a blessing to me in many ways. I never miss the money sent to Sponsor her either, people if I can do this, MANY of you can too! Amen. Please contact World Vision TODAY! May God and Holy Spirit speak to MANY of you TODAY In Jesus Name, I pray! PTL.
