There are lots of studios that you can go to if you are wanting to make a Gospel recording. There are some very good ones that I would feel comfortable sending anyone to, and there are some others that I wouldn't recommend sending my biggest enemy to.

There are some in elaborate buildings and others are in converted garages. I remember visiting one place where the owner had a "studio" in his spare bedroom.

If you are considering recording and investing in your group or solo ministry, then you need to look closely at any studio you plan to use.

First of all, you should be able to talk to the person running the studio. If all they want to do is sell you a "recording package", then run, don't walk away from that setting. However if someone wants to sit down with you and "listen" to what you want, and how much money you have to spend, without mortgaging your house, then it's time to talk.

imageDaniel Riley, Baritone singer for Gold City Quartet, and owner of Goldmine Recording Studio, is one of those "Listeners". He is more interested in helping you make a quality recording that you can be proud of, than making a fast buck and sending you on your way. I say that because we have all heard the horror stories of groups that paid $10,000 or $20,000 and ended up with something that radio DJs couldn't play because the quality just wasn't there. Daniel wants to be able to lay his head on his pillow at night, knowing that he has treated people right.

I told you about some of those studio guys, who have their studios in garages or bedrooms, and they have a great "ear" for recording, but most of them have no education in recording at all. Daniel graduated from the Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, OH, one of the best known schools for recording and producing to be found... This enables Daniel to produce some very high quality recordings. He has produced and recorded such groups as Gold City, The Wilburns, The Dove Brothers, Steve Brock, Chapter IV, and CrossWay, just to name a few. In fact, Gold City's 5 star rated CD -CampMeetin was totally recorded at Goldmine Studio, and Gold City's new Christmas CD will be recorded there also.

A recording with Goldmine Studio is not one of those "track" recordings. Everything is custom made with live musicians. With an average price of $6,500 for a first class recording, the prices start at $4,500 and go wherever your budget allows.

With these prices you get such musicians as Danny Crawford, Tim Parton, or Dirk Johnson on piano and keyboards. Joel Key and Jeremy Metcalf are available on guitars.

You can get Adam Borden or Mark Fain on the bass guitar. Doug Riley is his favorite drummer to use. Goldmine Studio has also just added the top of the line "Pro Tools Systems" for editing and mixing with the highest digital quality.

Daniel's goal is to help groups and soloists with artist development, helping to take their ministry to another level.

Goldmine Studio is located in the Gold City Music Park in Gadsden, AL right off I-59. You can reach Daniel to talk with him personally about your recording at 256-312-0806 or visit his website at www.goldminerecordingstudios.com

Hello.. Thank you for the article, it was very informative. I am a drummer/Hand Percussionist - vocalist and I am available for recording projects. I realize that you probably already have people that you work with, but networking is so important in our business. I can provide you with CD Demo of past projects if you'd like.
Just let me know.
Peace be with you,
Michael

I really enjoy Danny's voice with Gold City. I understand he is a very talented young man. I would feel very comfortable in choosing his recording studio especially seeing that Gold City has recorded there as well.

As a contributing writer for Singing News Magazine and a staff member of the Steve Hurst School of Music Ministries, I'm often asked by aspiring artists where they should record and who I'd recommend to produce their project. I've had the pleasure of recording at Danny's studio on several occasions and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I've also known Danny for a long time and I know he has high standards and will give you the best product possible for the money. Trust me, you will not be disappointed by doing business with Danny Riley and Gold Mine Studios.

As writer of "The Vocal Coach" for SoGospelNews, I have known Danny and his wife Holly for many years and can say without hesitation that you will be treated with respect and love. They will give you the best product you can get for the amount of money you have to work with for your project. I have sent many of my students to Gold Mine Studios and they have never been disappointed.

Danny,

Awsome studio!! I hear that your headphone mix is the best for the vocalist who have recorded there. I think that might have something to do with you being such a great vocalist yourself. I know groups have a hard time trying to tell an engineer who has never sang a note what they need in there mix! Great studio and staff! Keep up the great work down there in Gadsden with The Goldmine!!
