Four Fold is a quartet from Tennessee that I have, with this CD, only recently come to hear for this first time.  Consisting of Michael and Jeremy Lunsford, along with Kenney Scott and Greg Powers, these guys have a very identifiable sound and style that is uniquely their own.  On several songs, Four Fold reminds me of the Kingsmen from the late 70s and early 80s.  Their vocal styling is very reminiscent of that era, full of energy and enthusiasm. 

The jazzy ”I’VE BEEN REVIVED” gets things started and by the time the song is over, you too will be singing “I am alive…I’ve been revived!” This would make an excellent single release.

The medium tempo ”THERE’S A REASON FOR IT ALL” is next and is a great song of encouragement for those going through hard times, that in time “we’ll understand He has a reason for it all.”

On this CD there are several songs about Heaven and the joys awaiting the saints.  Those songs range from the upbeat Inspirations classic ”YOU DON’T HAVE TO WAIT” to the slower, more reflective ”THE JOY’S AWAITING.” Then the pace picks back up to full steam ahead with ”AS THE AGES ROLL” and then on to the medium tempo, country sounding ”JESUS WILL BE THERE.” All of these songs are done well and really show off the vigor this group seems to display vocally and musically. 

There are also a couple of excellent songs about salvation called ”CAN YOU SAY THAT YOU’RE SAVED” and the exciting ”WHEN HE SET ME FREE.”

I must say that ”AFTER I BOW TO THE KING” shows off some of the most solid quartet singing found on this recording.  Formerly recorded by Gold City back in 1986, Four Fold really shines on this song.

Rounding out the recording is the up-tempo ”THE OLD TIME CHRISTIAN WAY.” Of course, this song has just recently been released as the first single for the Signature Sound Quartet, but Four Fold does a really good job on the song as well.

Four Fold has a very infectious and flamboyant sound.  Though some of their pronunciation of certain words could be better, you still can’t help but get absorbed in the enthusiasm of their singing.  Having never heard Four Fold live, I cannot attest to whether they have the same excitement on stage that they show on record.  But it does seem rather difficult to sing with the zeal they seem to project standing still!  Check them out on the web at http://www.four-fold.com.
