I will be the very first to admit that I am not much of a Bluegrass Gospel fan, but there is something about this recording by Harvest that I really like and I think there is a lot of people who have never heard of this Bluegrass group that will like what they have to offer. They don't really have the twangy, whiny, nasally sound that I associate with the genre, but their sound is very clean and very enjoyable.

The recording starts out with the barnburner, “AS FAR AS I CAN SEE” before moving on the slower tempo of, “GRACE FOR TODAY”, which is a really great song and leads perfectly into a semi-uptempo arrangement of the old hymn, “HOLY MANNA” (aka- Brethren We Have Met to Worship ).

The medium tempo song “GOD KNOWS” reassures us that “God knows, yes He knows, when you feel you've reached your end and no one you can depend…and when you can't see tomorrow from the darkness of the day…have faith that He is with you and God knows.” Another song that falls along similar lines is the song, “CALL ON JESUS”.

Things slow down a bit for “NAILED TO THE CROSS” before the pace picks up for medium tempo, “HE WOULDN'T STAY DEAD”, a song which has done very well for the group on radio.

I love their arrangement of one of my favorite old songs, “HOLD TO GOD'S UNCHANGING HAND”. Done in an upbeat fashion, it's one of the highlights of the recording and is quite exciting to listen to and it shows off some fine picking as well before things slow down for a ballad simply titled, “THE TOUCH”.

The following song, “GOD FORGIVE ME” is a wonderful song of salvation, while the recording ends just as it began, with a rollicking banjo and guitar infested tune, “WITH YOU ALL THE TIME”.

Fans of the Primitive Quartet will love this group. There is plenty of pickin' and grinnin' on this recording, but there is so much more to this group. The songs chosen are very strong lyrically. Lead singer Caleb Smith wrote five of the songs and they are all very good quality songs, as are all the other songs. This is a great recording, and I am glad I got the chance to listen and review this recording. It's a great find!
