John Conlee is no stranger to the music scene. If you have watched the Grand Ole Opry, you will recognize him as a regular. He has recorded many secular albums with such hits as “Rose Colored Glasses," (which John wrote) “Before My Time”, and “Busted”.

It has been a long time dream of John to record a Gospel Album, and when he finally had a chance he quickly jumped at it. As with many Country artists, Jon has included many of the old hymns that he has been singing since a child at Versailles Baptist Church in Kentucky. Some of those great old Hymns include the Title song medley of “Turn Your Eyes On Jesus" and "Softly And Tenderly,” The Old Rugged Cross.” Farther Along,” "Peace In The Valley,” “Amazing Grace,” and another Medley consisting of “I Saw The Light" and "I’ll Fly Away.” John sings all of these great old songs with conviction and expression that let’s you know that he has experienced what he is singing about.

The one song that I was really drawn to is not an old Hymn, but a great story song, “Pass It On.” It’s the story of an old alcoholic who passed along his addiction to his son by the life that he lived before him. The story goes on to tell how we pass other bad things on to our children. But, at last, the song goes on to tell how a man living a Christian life before his children will pass on a winning life to his children. This song is going to radio and should do well for him.

If you are a country music fan you will love this CD, and if you are looking for a great collection of well loved hymns you can't go wrong with this CD.
