Produced by Jeff Collins and Arthur Rice
Recorded at Crossroads Studio, Arden , NC
Label Sonlite/Crossroads

Just when I think that the Kingdom Heirs have produced the best CD they can, they always come up with something even better. This CD is no exception. The song selection is really varied, yet they stay within the arena that they do so well. One of the things that makes this group so good is that Bass singer, Jeff Chapman, can give them so many different sounds. On the very first song with Jeff's influence, if you close your eyes, you could think that it was the Statesmen singing "I've Got Something To Shout About".

Jeff is not the only one who doesn't get in a rut with his vocal stylings. Arthur Rice does some great singing and shows a lot of versatility in his vocal expressions. The title song "Forever Changed" shows what a powerful Lead singer he is.

Songwriter Rodney Griffin has four songs on this CD. "I've Never Been Loved" is a nice Bass feature and will have you singing along after the first verse. "I Know I'm Going There" is a traditional Southern Gospel quartet song complete with repeat phrasing. "I Didn't Know" is a light hearted song that even your kids will like. It is reminiscent of some of the earlier Bill Gaither Trio songs. "Again", featuring Tenor Jodi Hosterman, is a beautiful ballad with a strong message of hope and encouragement.

"The Embrace Of Grace" penned by Phil Cross shows that these guys are not limited to standard quartet singing. Starting with some very tight unison in the first verse and continuing with some very interesting harmony in the second verse this song will touch your heart. "Count On You", written by Diane Wilkerson has a unique feel to it. It almost reminds me of some old "black" quartet singing I've heard. This is a fun song that will lift your spirit. "Looking In The Wrong Place" has an interesting perspective in getting its message across. It describes what so many people are doing today, looking in the wrong place for the right thing. Steve French is featured on this cut. "Just Getting' It" is a catchy song that you will get singing along with, clapping your hands to, and asking your DJs to be playing.

Most of you know that I do not have a problem with stacks on a CD, in fact I enjoy them when used correctly, however, for those of you who do not like stacks, this is your CD. The songs selection is so good, and the harmony is so tight that you do not even notice that it is not stacked. This CD is just full of great music.

Steve sent me the CD and it is AWESOME. The guys have all outdid themselves on this one, IMO. It is so neat to hear songs and be able to identify each voice you hear, as you can on this CD.
WAY TO GO KINGDOM HEIRS! grin

James Hales's avatar I have to say this is the best recording the Kingdom Heirs have ever done. I have always liked their music, but never was a huge fan of theirs. At least not until their last CD came out. This new one is even better than their last one. What a great sound these guys have.

My personal favs are "I've Got Something to Shout About", "Forever Changed", "I've Never Been Loved", "Again" and "I Know I'm Going There."

They really do have a good Statesmen sound on "Something to Shout About."

I would have given them 5 stars. This is great quartet music!

I think the Kingdom Heirs are a great group~ I was honored to be in concert with them last year, and fell in love with their sound. I know the Dollywood gig is a great arrangement, however I feel it is a shame that KH doesn't travel around alot more. Great job guys!

Great review! Great project! Great group with great songs. You mentioned that Rodney Griffin wrote several songs on this album, and that Phil Cross and Dianne Wilkerson had cuts as well. Who wrote the title song, "Forever Changed" ?

I got a copy of this CD at NQC. I think it's very good quality with excellent delivery and song selection. My rating is 4 1/2 stars. I disagree with Deon's statement that this is their best CD ever. I liked what I heard of _Going On With The Song_ more, but this is still a very good release.

David, I agree with your assessment. I thought _Going On With The Song_ was great and continue to listen to it A LOT. This CD is also very good, just not quite as good as that one. Just MHO, though!
