As someone who isn’t a big fan of Bluegrass, I am a fan of the Living Waters Trio. There’s a lot of heart and soul found in their music and it’s very evident when listening to these songs that they’ve lived them. A long time in the making (over 2 years) and lots of expectations put on them, I believe they lived up to the challenge and have put together something quite memorable and enjoyable.

A rollicking banjo track starts the lead off song, “DRIVE THE NAILS” before things slow down for the tune, “WHEN I GET DOWN ON MY KNEES”. The following song, “MY HOMELAND IS NEAR”, penned by Dee Gaskin, fits the group perfectly as does the song, “HE’S ALL I NEED”, which features their newest member, Jason Thompson.

Written by Kyla Rowland, the uptempo, guitar and banjo infested tune “I’M GETTING OUT” leads well into the medium tempo, “HE WILL DELIVER ME”, from whence the recording derives it title, and is one of the lyrical highlights of the recording.

A song that is likely to be a favorite of many is, “NO GRAVES FOR FLOWERS”; as will the easy flow feel of, “STRENGTH TO CLIMB” and the Ann Ballard penned, “PLENTY OF GRACE”.

An uptempo rendition of the hymn “I’M GOING THAT WAY” (which is a tad too fast for my taste) rounds out this collection of tunes, but the recording doesn’t end quite yet, as the final track is an extended version of “DRIVE THE NAILS”.

While one of their earlier recordings (“Talk to Me”) remains a personal favorite of mine, this newest release lays down a solid foundation and raises the bar for them on their next release, and I like to think that they are up to the challenge. If you like the Appalachian style, then you need to check these guys out. They don’t provide the typical Bluegrass sounds (nasal singing, banjo on every song, etc.), but rather, they are quite easy to listen to and very soothing for the soul.

Personal Favs: DRIVE THE NAILS; MY HOMELAND IS NEAR; HE’S ALL I NEED; HE WILL DELIVER ME; NO GRAVES FOR FLOWERS; STRENGTH TO CLIMB

James, we love you!! Thanks for review. We can always count on you for you honesty and I know one day we'll convert you to bluegrass...LOL...We simply pray this project will bless people as much as it has us. Nothing we've done but WOW, how God used this project to pull us through one of the toughest trials we've ever faced in our ministry. He is truly an AWESOME GOD!!!

I keep hearing the song "Drive The Nails"! This is a great song taken from a point of view I've never really thought about. I love this groups style and hope to hear alot more of them in the future. They are definitely one of my all time favs. I am a bluegrass fan and I compare this group alot to The Isaacs. I see them places and fast! It seems as though they are on our radio atleast once every hour. WE LOVE IT!

From your very first CD to "Delivered" you guys always sing songs that have the most annointed messages. A big congratulations on your first Top 80 single. I know I'm not the first to say "I Told You So" LOL. James gave you a great review which you all so deserved.

Living Waters Trio is the best thing that has happened to bluegrass music since Sonya Isaacs! From the first time I heard Les feature them on Front Porch Fellowship, I felt an annointing that blew me away. You will definitely want to check out their website and order 1 of every CD they have. I love then ALL!

If you are a fan of bluegrass and gospel music then you will love this project. One of the freshest projects that I have heard for sometime now. Les Butler, Terry Thompson, and some of the best players in Nashville have produced some great tracks. I have not heard these folks live, but the vocals on the project are top notch and they have their own identity. This will be a group that will be around for sometime if they keep up the great work they are doing.

This is one of the best albums I have ever owned. I didn't care too much for Bluegras, until now. Most of all these guys know what they are singing about.
