New Found Road - Full Heart
This recording is pretty close to being bluegrass gospel in its purest form. With plenty of pickin’ and a’grinnin’, fans of bluegrass gospel will eat this recording up. With about half the songs written by 3 members of the group, there is a fair amount of original material, which gives the group a little originality as far as song selection goes. Consisting of Carl Williams, Jr. (a former member of the Bishops) along with Rob Baker, Tim Caudill and Tim Shelton, New Found Road offers a refreshing sound for the listener and one that is not drab or plain. From the first licks of the banjo on the up tempo ”HE’LL BE YOUR FRIEND,” bluegrass fans know they are in for a treat, and the song features a little bit of each member of the group. Things then slow down a bit for the ¾ beat of ”CHRIST NEVER CHANGES.” Building on the scripture Galatians 6:9 encouraging us to not grow weary in well doing, “DO WELL” is a tremendous song that you’ll find yourself listening to over and over again. It’s a good song to tuck in your spirit for those times you need an encouraging song. Picking up the pace again, ”EASY CHOICE FOR ME” is a testimonial that following Christ is an easy choice to make. ”A FULL HEART” is a rollicking tune that many will enjoy and the message is very clear as well. Excellent musicianship and singing on this song. Relaying the Biblical stories of Abraham and his son and the 3 Hebrews in the fiery furnace, “HE’LL MAKE A WAY,” reminds us that even when things seem bleak…"He’ll make a way out of no way.” The medium tempo ”I’M HEADING FOR HEAVEN” is a song of determination that this group intends to make Heaven their Home. A song the Son’s Family recently recorded found its way onto this recording called, ”HE WAS MY LIGHTHOUSE”, and the group does a good job on their rendition of the song, which paves the way for the final up tempo song of the recording, ”THIS ROCK.” The final musical song on this recording is an excellent song of praise called ”YOU’RE GOD.” Closing things out is the acapella ”THERE IS ONE”, calling to those who don’t know Christ as their Savior, to come to repentance and accept Him as the One and only, Lord and Savior. Funny thing about this recording is that it sounds a lot like the early version of the Bishops when they first started out. I hear a hint of that sound, and it’s pretty cool. I simply cannot let this review slip by without mentioning a certain picture of the group within the cover of the CD. It is just too priceless and hilarious to not mention it. I had forgotten what a comic Carl Williams is and this picture is a demonstration of that! You must buy the CD to see what I am talking about. Trust me…it’ll be worth it, and the music ain’t too shabby either! Check New Found Road out on the web at http://www.newfoundroad.com. Personal Favs: DO WELL; A FULL HEART; THIS ROCK; YOU’RE GOD
