What is an anonymous user?

It seems that to be a site user one must be logged in and to be logged in one would no longer be anonymous.  A guest would not have posting privileges; does an anonymous user have posting privileges?

The term seems ambiguous.  Just wondering............

Well, as best I can tell, the term is used for someone who posts and opinion (and yes, there sites, like some local newspapers in my area that will allow a “guest” to post something) but does want people to know the source.  This is really common in the above newspapers.  I really don’t blame them, in one respect.  All someone needs is an email address, and if they are willing to put some time in, they can track your phone number and address.  Once they do that, they can come to your front door.

Hmmmmmm...........Makes sense, sort of.

Sometimes there is an anonymous user on this site; for instance, right now there is one.  I thought there were just two categories on this site - logged on and guests - and that one had to be logged on in order to post.  I was just wondering where the “anonymous” fits in.  I’m sure there is something more important I need to be thinking about..............
