Does anybody have any suggestions and info on making a live recording?  Back at the first of the year, my band played at the Women’s Prison in Alto GA.  When we went in to setup, I made a joke “why don’t we do live recording here.  Johnny Cash did”.  Well, I was just trying to be funny.  Back in March, they hired a guy to do a live recording there in November!  What all does this entail?  I have many times just connected a tape deck to the PA mixer and taped live shows just for my own personal doings.  This guys talks like he will have to bring a recording studio to the jail!

If it’s a venue that doesn’t have recording capipilities, then that’s pretty much what they have to do.  make sure they done it before ( personal experience -lol)

When I do live recordings I use a multi track recorder (protools) with 16 channels of recording capabilities.  I mic every instrument and vocals.  Then I usually will do a stereo pair of condenser mics in the crowd.  Everything is recorded then taken back to the studio and edited, mixed, and mastered.  If you are wanting more advance I can tell you more detail.
